Panasonic 5.8 Ghz 4-Line FHSS Expandable Cordless Phone System with Call Waiting Caller Id and Answering System (KX-TG4500B) Reviews
Helpful person with good English had me take out the battery, wait 1 minute to reset the unit. I hate the voice mail retrieval asking me if want English or Spanish. One of my remote units seems to be deaf after one-year. As others say, would like listening volume to be higher but have had no complaints on outgoing. Vola.
UPDATE: After reading so many reviews on how customer service was so useless and reading manual and all the FAQ's on the Panasonic site with nothing related to my "deaf" unit, I ordered another from AMAZON. I can hear again. All functions work, battery shows full charge but no sound can be heard - no mute isn't on. Mainly for 2 remotes for picking up when not in home office and calling voice mail from cell for messages. language is ENGLISH.
not Mexico. I don't know a word of Spanish.
The U.S. Have had unit for more than a year.
So why do I have to put up with the needless step. Can't blame Amazon for being so fast.
BUT just then thinking to give it a chance just before Panasonic Customer Service closed I called. Went back to cancel order on Amazon like 30 minutes after placed and was too late already being prepared and have to get it and return it.
I live in the U.S. It is annoying that question can not be turned off to avoid the extra selection step.
It is a Panasonic product which means you should not have any issues with quality. It has a better and clearer sound. It has more features if you have the time to read the thick booklet you can find many more. This one is a bit different from the TG4000B I had. don't hesitate. This is my second 4-Line Expandable Cordless Phone System of Panasonic. It is a plug and speak system that is delivering what you basically want: a clever home-small office telephone system without all the bother of wiring every room or station.
Major oversight, if you ask me. It looks like most of the negative comments are from customers familiar with the previous 4-line Panasonic phones. Its an intercom/transfer system. I thought it was a quick dial pad, when its not. If there's any bass, it will distort badly. I've been working with this phone system for several months now, and I like it very much. I have recorded our own music, and discovered its very important your music has virtually no bass at all.
(Not Panasonic's problem, but a limitation of the phone line audio dynamics). (We got ours as a demo unit for half price, so that's also a big part of our satisfaction). (I use an older ATT model, with adjustable volume, and it works great). I'm sorry about that, but for a first time user, the phone is very good. There are a bunch of features packed into this phone, and I've spent a lot of time with the manual to make sure I have very clear understanding on how the system works. The menu system is fairly easy to navigate. (That's why so many voice mail systems have light concerto violin music, due to the lack of bass).
We don't use the pager feature, or the automated attendant. Its a fairly complete phone. That's not so great if you're wanting to preserve privacy and anonymity. I also have a wireless GN Netcom headset that isn't as loud, and customers don't hear me as well on that one. So, all the quick dial names are currently whited out. I guess if you're used to them, this one has some continuity problems. (Duh).
This is almost unheard of for this kind of phone. In fact, depending on your circumstances, it might make this phone completely unacceptable because of this. Its really excellent, and the call quality is outstanding using a good quality headset. just like it says. However, the unit does have a headset for the base, and a headset can be plugged into any of the handsets.
It may not have all the features you're looking for, and might be very frustrating if you're used to an older Panasonic model, but for the average small office, its great, and highly professional. Why Panasonic didn't modify this feature, I don't know. So often, frustration develops when you assume you understand how something works, only to find out it has a different operation than you're used to. The intercom/transfer pad is a bit confusing, (case in point). We have a smaller office-based business with only two lines and one remote handset, but for what we paid, its a great phone.
The voice mail system works well, but it plays exclusively from the speaker phone on the base unit, even if you have a headset plugged in.
We're still learning all the bells and whistles. We recently set up a base unit with 3 cordless handsets. Setup was simple, and the basic systemn works well.
Phone support is horrid. After finally being fed up with this design flaw I called for tech support. Also, if you use this system in a business (who won't). you have to send yours in first and wait 7-10 days. It beeps on your line when a phone call comes in on another line and steps on your conversation having you to ask the person on the other end of line to repeat what they said. We bought this system when it was released. The unit has been updated to overcome this issue, but they won't update the software for you.
