Like most of Panasonic product this is no exception. I had a set of beautiful V-Tech phones. They look very modern, which was the main reason for me to buy them. That fell to last place when I soon discovered that their performance was very disappointing. Batteries started to fail early and the when using the loudspeaker (which we use a lot) the phones were shutting phones off in mid conversations. That made me starting to hunt for a quality and durable phone system. I remembered my first cordless Panasonic many eons ago which lasted over 7 years so I decided to try the brand again. Right on the have been an excellent investment with an excellent array of features that I haven't seen in any other phone systems yet. Great product.
The phone system arrived from Amazon in a brown box labeled Panasonic factory refurbished. The order was fulfilled by Amazon via "Good as New Electronics". As always, shipping via Amazon Prime was fast fast fast.
Everything arrived in mint condition and showed no signs of previous use, damage or repair. All items were wrapped in plastic baggies, covered in protective film and/or bound with twist ties like new - handsets, remote bases, main base, power supplies, belt holsters, phone line, batteries, and manual. The handsets were still registered to the main base, just like one would expect from a new system.
I now have a phone in every important room in the house on all three levels, using only a single phone jack at the main base station. I've used the system for a few months now, and the call quality is excellent. The phones are lighter than my old Uniden TXC905 handsets, yet they don't feel cheap. They are well made. The buttons feel nice and the screen is easy to read. Even the speakerphone is decent (as speakerphones go). I haven't messed around with the talking caller ID yet (meaning I haven't taken the time to turn it off), nor have I used the built-in answering machine (I have voicemail already). The broadcast range and battery life are great, and I have not had conflicts with my WiFi networks (G and N). This phone system is great because the handsets use regular AAA rechargeable batteries (included) instead of proprietary batteries.
I should note that the lone silver handset included with my system is more of a white and silver color scheme, which was trendy a few years ago before glossy piano black became the rage. It still looks good, and was actually a better compliment to my kitchen decor than black....or perhaps this is a sign that I need to remodel my kitchen? ;p
I won't hesitate to purchase another factory refurbished Panasonic product.
Bravo Panasonic. I bought this from the refurbished line. This was a first for me. There were minor blemishes on the base unit, probably the result of the horrible repackaging. The phones and chargers were rolling around in the box as the UPS man handed it to me. I was hesitant, but I decided to charge them despite their rough ride. The result, they are incredible. I can take them outside to the patio and beyond. Excellent clarity. Easy to figure out. After the pounding they took getting here, I would have to say they are rugged. The talking caller ID is amusing, but I must admit it does come in handy. If you don't like it, you can turn it off. I love the fact that it uses regular rechargeable batteries. Even the intercom feature has come in handy when we are outside and need something from in the house. I have owned many, many phones and this one is the best so far. I highly recommend it!
This is a GREAT phone system. For much less than $200, you can put a phone in every room in your home. I bought an additional handset to max out the set with six phones.
The phones look great and seem well-built. There's a long list of useful features--too numerous to mention. However, programming this phone is simple and straightforward. The owner's manual is easy to understand.
I've owned phone systems where registering/de-registering the handsets with the base unit was a nightmare. Not so with this Panasonic! Simply refer to the owners manual, press a couple of buttons and the job is done! This set of five phones comes already registered with the base unit.
The Caller ID screen is easy to see--even without my reading glasses. The keypad buttons are lit, a very useful feature in dark rooms.
The 'Talking Caller ID' is a bit comical with it's mispronunciations, but you quickly get used to it and it's VERY convenient.
The intercom system is simple to use. You can call all over the house without taking a step. Be aware this is an intercom system--NOT a paging system.
A person with average or normal hearing shouldn't have any trouble with the loudness of the ringtones, handset volume or speakerphone. However, I believe that someone with moderate hearing loss might experience some difficulty with the overall loudness at times. My only criticism is that this phone could be a little louder. It shouldn't be a problem with most people, however.
The speakerphone on the base unit features a seperate keypad and can actually be used as an extra phone.
It is difficult to tell from the photograph, but one phone is white--not metallic. We use that one in the kitchen.
The new 1.9 GHz band is great! I live in a big, old house spread out over 2 1/2 floors. Signal coverage is impressive and consistent with no detectable 'dead spots' or interference. This unit has good coverage well beyond our property line. You needn't worry about microwave ovens, wireless modems, wireless doorbells and garage door openers. The new 1.9 GHz band is vastly superior to the congested 2.4 and 5.8 ghz bands. Security on this phone is great, too. There's absolutely no chance your neighbors will overhear your conversations because the signal is digitalized.
Thank goodness the days of expensive, proprietary batteries are over! This system uses two inexpensive, rechargeable AAA batteries which are available everywhere.
I bought this unit for a family member who has suffered two strokes. He walks with a great deal of difficulty and sometimes falls. With this phone system, he always has a phone nearby. His chances of being able to reach a phone in the event of an emergency is greatly improved. You may want to consider this phone system for an elderly person or someone with medical/mobility problems. Although this family member has trouble understanding some things, he has absolutely NO trouble understanding or operating this phone system! In fact, he LOVES this phone and it has become his link to the outside world. This phone gives me some peace of mind should there ever be an emergency.
When it comes to expandable phone systems these days, there's a lot of garbage on the market. My experience is that this Panasonic system is well worth the money and I highly recommend it.
We bought this Panasonic phone system about three months ago and are very pleased. It's great to have a phone in every room we use frequently, and we enjoy knowing who's calling before we pick it up. We never subscribed to Caller ID from the phone company, so this is a nice new feature for us. The voice clarity is wonderful, the message system works well, and two or more of us can be on a call at the same time (which wasn't the case with our older extension phone system). Even my husband, who doesn't tend to gush about stuff, has said repeatedly how much he loves this phone system. Enough said!
