Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ85U 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV Reviews

I've owned nothing but LCD's since the CRT days and thought the rear-projection models were pretty good, but found the flat panel versions lacking. After much research and this purchase, I can definitively say that Plasmas just look a lot better. I have seen no screen burn in issues at all - even leaving static computer desktop images for hours and hours days on end. no screen blur, no pixelation during motion, good contrast and dark blacks - great look with computer display through HDMI. I highly recommend this TV specifically and would urge everyone to take a good look at Plasma and don't assume that LCD is better.

It lived upto my expectation. I bought after reading reviews from Amazon and CNET. I am having it for about 2 weeks now.

The 46" Panasonic Viera is a great plasma, period. So, after being completely dissapointed, and overcharged with a 42" Dell plasma (Phillips tv packaged in a Dell skin) that suddenly stopped working after a mere 3 years, I finally got the Panasonic plasma that I had wanted in the first place. Needless to say I am not only very impressed with the plasma, but with Panasonic customer service as well. I highly recommend the 46" Panasonic Viera Plasma television. I did have one little glitch with the way non-HD channels were displaying, but one call to Panasonic and their customer service representative understood the problem, passed it on to the techs, who then spent time to recreate the problem, and then called me within 48 hours (can you believe it, they called me). with a very quick and easy solution. The colors are sharp, the blacks are deep, the packaging (skin) is pleasing, and the setup and remote are completely intuitive.

The Panasonic didnt work, but the customer service was great, and I wound up getting a Samsung instead.

Unlike plasmas from just a couple of years ago, the screen is plenty bright. The 46" size provides a nice, immersive effect for watching movies; the only caveat I'd offer is that standard-definition TV doesn't look great on a screen this big if you're sitting too close you want to be at least 7 feet from this one if you're watching a lot of non-HDTV.

That said, HD TV over cable really does look spectacular. Screen reflectivity isn't really an issue for me, although as with any plasma it could bother someone in a room with especially bright lighting. I've had this TV for a week and the picture quality is even more stunning than I anticipated.

Delivery from Amazon was flawless and the set arrived 2 days before the estimated shipping date, with excellent communication from the shipper. This set produces colors with a richness and depth I haven't seen in LCD units in this price range. DVDs on our 4-year old progressive-scan DVD player look quite good, although I am biding my time for Blu-ray to become more affordable and ubiquitous, because that's where this TV will really shine.
