PC Power and Cooling S61EPS Silencer 610W EPS12V power supply, SLI and 80+ Certified Reviews
Most importantly, my system has been very stable, with no crashes in several weeks of heavy usage. It powers my system just fine (2.5 GHZ Phenom Quad Core, Geforce 9800 GTX+, 4 GB ram) and is very silent. This is a great power supply with plenty of connections, but not excessive such that the unused wires would get in the way. This is also one of the more power efficient power supplies. If you're building a good performance PC, this is the one that should be powering your hardware.
I purchased this unit for a new PC I was building and it's been a true gem. This power supply from PC Power and Cooling is rated for 610 watts and is part of their Silencer line. If you're concerned about whether it has enough juice to power 2 video cards, I can vouch for that as I have two Radeon 3870s and have had no problems of any kind.
The Silencer has carried forward the high quality pipeline of clean power but eliminated virtually all the noise and truly lives up to its name. It is whisper quiet and has provided stable power since I first flipped the switch. PC Power and Cooling cites numbers that the unit can maintain indefinitely and at more realistic temperatures.
The company has long been known for making rock solid units, but the last time I purchased one I couldn't take the fan noise it generated and replaced it. One thing prospective customers should know is that most power supply makers essentially cheat on their wattage ratings by citing power numbers that the unit can only achieve at temperatures well below what will be found inside your PC and/or the unit can only generate that power as a peak wattage for a short time before failing. They've been winning awards from all the computer magazines for years with no end in sight.
for many years PC Power & Cooling has been THE power supply by which all others are measured. When OCZ bought them I was concerned, sure, OCZ makes great stuff too but they didn't do anything in the power supply business and I couldn't see how they could do anything to improve an already outstanding PC Power and Cooling product. If you ever need a power supply I cannot say enough good stuff about PC Power & Cooling. I cannot say OCZ made PC Power & Cooling any better but it appears they did the next best thing and left it alone.
I had to cut the tiewrap and move the cables around one at a time to place them properly. Other than that it's silent and strong. Just one word of warning. It BARELY fit in the PSU space of my Antec P182 case. It's a great power supply and my third PCP&C product over time. It is larger than most of this power level.
