Pioneer DV-410V-K 1080p Upscaling DVD Player Reviews
I am using it through HDMI with a Th42pz80U. That being said, trying to get the best picture b/w the amount of settings b/w the HDTV and DVD player can be difficult. However its a good pick for those demanding high quality DVD. I wouldnt expect much out of this DVD player if you demand HD.
. Overall, its a great DVD player, but I am going to get a blu ray. I would like to get an ISF calibration but dont find the cost worth it on this DVD / TV pair. Granted the picture is clear but the picture looks no where near HD/1080P. I get over the air HDTV signals that look better then the upconverted DVDs.
I bought the player for upconversion but IMO the DVDs still look like standard def. I adjusted the picture the best I could and do have the DVD player set to 1080P out.
This is my third pioneer DVD player. I never had problems with pioneer, just replace the players because new features and convenience. This is a great player, full of options including upscalling via hdmi, usb input for photos, mp3 and divx video. With this terrific player I'll wait a couple of years to buy a blu-ray player for $100, from pioneer.
It is connected with an HDMI cable. After a brief set-up it was up and going with no hitches. I have it connected to my LN46A550 and it looks fantastic. I am impressed with the picture and features on this unit.
This DVD player is a great value for the price, as others have already mentioned the picture quality and upscaling is great. Lookup Pioneer DV-48AV At just a few dollars more than this one (at Vanns dot com) I highly recommend it. I went for the 'Elite' version of Pioneer's player instead, Video quality is the same as this one, but it also has amazing Audio quality. I was able to replace both my old DVD player and Audiophile CD player with just one unit.
DivX movies play well as do DVD-R's. I have not tried DVD+R's. My only minor gripe is that this unit does take a little while to start up (10-15 seconds). I have not tried the USB reader on the front of the unit.
and I usually end up hitting the power button repeatedly before any lights come up on the thing. I purchased this player to replace an upconverting Toshiba that went south on me. Fast forwarding and reverse on works well and does not tend to overshoot (where you stop being far ahead or behind of where the picture was when you hit the play button) - once again, a problem I've had with multiple Toshiba DVD players. So far, everything works and works fairly well.
DivX movies take a little bit of time to read and start playing, my guess is this has something to do with the processing the unit has to do. The upconversion works much better than it did on the Toshiba.
