If you are on the phone for hours a day, the benefits of a headset over a handset become clear--especially if it is as light and comfortable as the Plantronics T10 model. This phone uses a corded headset, which decreases mobility somewhat, but it is unusual in that it comes with every accessory you'll need to use the headset in an over-the-head or over-the-ear configuration. Installing this phone is child's play. A standard telephone cord (included) connects the small base unit to a wall jack, and the headset cord connects to the front of the unit. No power cord is necessary. Plantronics used a standard telephone jack interface for the headset but wisely used light headphone cable instead of bulky telephone cord on the unit. This helps keep the headset's already low weight to a minimum. They've also thoughtfully included a small alligator clip on the headset cord so you can clip it to a shirt pocket and keep the cord from brushing your face as you move. As mentioned, the headset microphone and speaker unit can be attached to an ear hook or a headband. The headband is very light and highly adjustable, but we preferred using the ear hooks. Plantronics packages three different sizes of hooks with the device, so there's bound to be one that fits. The hooks sit on your ear instead of using a clamping mechanism, and the entire assembly is so light and unobtrusive that we were able to forget it was there after a few minutes. The microphone is the type that extends to your cheek instead of in front of your lips, so you don't have to deal with it bumping against your lips when you talk. For all these reasons, we were able to wear the headset all day without it getting in the way or making us look like extras from a bad sci-fi movie. As for the sound quality, it was great under most circumstances. The microphone is so sensitive that it can pick up the hum of a computer if it's pointed in that direction, so this may not be the best solution for noisy environments. But low and behold to my surprise when I received a T20 instead of the T10 I had ordered. So now I'm stuck with a product I simply didn't order. [.]. through Amazon.com.
I ordered this product Plantronics T10 Corded Headset Phone (Purchased on 10/02/2008) by Plantronics from. I've learned my lesson, and it just took my FIRST purchase.[.]. So I say to you my friends there is seemingly no way to know what you'll be getting under false advertisement. I had to work with the darn thing and could not get to return it. The product itself is a fine product if you want something that requires the use of electricity, but I didn't.
It took about a week to get to me and being this is my first time using this product, I thought everything would be fine,(seeing that the invoice had the right product info). The fact that I ordered a T10 was for the sole purpose of not having to plug yet another device into a wall jack.
I am sure is not a defective unit because I have 2 of these phones The telephone works as expected but the volume is a little bit low even after ajusting the volume control to the maximum level. The seller delievered the phone right on time.
The mute is nice and large, with a light "behind" it so you don't forget it is on mute. I also like the ease of operation for the phone part. This headset has very good reception, comfortable, easy to use. Very happy with this purchase.
All I had to do was plug in a phone cord and it was ready for use. The phone came completely assembled with the phone base and the attached headset. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and it allows me to multi task without any obstacles or interruptions. With the unavailability of corded phones in this day and age, this product provides a secure land line for whatever business I need to do over the phone. Also, the length of the headset cord allows me to move around my office with ease. I am not tied to my desk, so to speak. .
Aside from that, there are two features I wish this had-a button on the headphone cord to turn phone on/off and a hold button, but at least I can use Mute when necessary in lieu of hold. I worried because the other reviews were not good, but due to budget constraints decided to take the plunge and try it out anyway. Also there is a clip you can clip onto your clothes to avoid pulling the headset off as you move around (because of the cord being heavy). It is a very thin wire and light. So I have been happily taking calls with this little buddy ever since I bought it. I knew it had to be a plug in the wall type phone with wired connections (due to security concerns).
Which I should mention, the cord is not heavy. I also needed noise canceling features with the microphone so I would keep my contracting hirers happy. The clip is a little hard to open and move along the cord (reason for the 4 stars and not 5. Features I like: It has a Mute button (handy during coughs/sneezes or other issues). Also I love the big ON/OFF button that is easy to see for easy call retrieval.
I bought this item when I was starting an at home business contracting for big companies as a phone center. At first there was static on the line, but I unplugged the cord from the wall and readjusted the cord positioning and it helped, so it wasn't even the phone, it was just the connection in the wall. The other feature I adore is how the phone is propped up and not flat, making it easy to see the numbers and buttons from across your desk without leaning over. I'm glad I did. The phone itself is the perfect size to sit on the edge of your desk and be out of the way, and the headset cord is long so it reaches that distance easily.
I thought I would have to buy two seperate units (phone and then a seperate headset), but I was so happy that for the price of one piece I found both.
