Pokemon, Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition
Nintendo Gameboy. Pokemon Special Pikachu EDITION.
While it's basically the same game as the previously released Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition features enhancements that make it the best version yet. In all three versions, the player is on a quest to become the World's Greatest Pokémon Trainer, with exploration and Pokémon battles (think advanced paper-scissors-rock) factoring heavily into the gameplay. While the game world is the same in all three versions, the Pokémon you encounter vary from version to version; the underlying goal of collecting all 151 Pokémon can only be met by trading Pokémon via Link Cable with another player with a different Pokémon version. (Players can also battle against one another using the Link Cable setup.) Pokémon Yellow follows the TV cartoon series more closely than the other versions. Your first Pokémon in Yellow is Pikachu, and he travels alongside you as opposed to inside a Pokéball (like most Pokémon). Pikachu's mood can be displayed virtual pet style: keeping him happy is important, as his mood affects certain events in the game. In addition to the inclusion of other TV show elements like Team Rocket, new battle modes between players are available as well as a secret game called Pikachu's Beach. If you haven't played any of the Pokémon games before, Pokémon Yellow is the best place to start. But while Pokémaniacs will go gaga over Yellow's new features, less enthusiastic veterans of Red and Blue may not find the extras to be quite so special. --Joe Hon Pros:
- Best version yet of the highly addictive Pokémon game
- Pikachu's moods raise the game's cuteness bar to an all-new level
- Features new battle modes between players
- Includes Pikachu's Beach secret game
Cons:
- Pokémon battles can be repetitive at times
- New features may not be enough for some Pokémon veterans

Pokemon, Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition Reviews
Pokemon has a horrible reputation. The TV show is filled with anoying voices and drives anyone out of the 5th grade mad. When it reached its peak you couldn't go anywhere without seeing Pokemon and little kids wanting to get all of the collecting cards even though no one really played with them. Despite this I have to admit that I love this classic game. When I was little I bought some other Pokemon games (I don't buy them now) but nothing tops this one.
The good side to "Pokemon: Special Pikachu Edition" is that it is a really adicting game. Even after you finish you'll want to replay it a different way. There are endless possibilities. The game's plot is smart and you travel to endless places. Also, the game has heart. You can't help but love Pikachu and some of the charactors. This game follows very close to the old cartoon so fans will like that.
The bad side is that some things haven't aged well. While I personally find it charming and cute some people might get annoyed by the background music. Sometimes you may get sick of battling trainers over and over again. Another thing is that the animation isn't that great but guess what? I actually like it that way. It brings back good memories.
In conclusion, this is one of my all time favorite video games and by far the best Gameboy game I've ever gotten. While I'm not a Pokemon fan like I use to be I'll still admit that I like to play this. I'd highly reccomed this along with "Pokemon: Silver and Gold" which almost reaches "Yellow"'s brilliance.
this is truly the best pokemon game ever! a must have 4 any pokemon fan. pikachu's cuteness and the way he follows u makes this the best pokemon game ever!!! also u get all 3 of the starter pokemon in this game which also makes this a must-have game
One of the classsic Pokemon games! Grandson lost his original yellow and it is no longer available in stores. This now completes (once again) the entire pokemon game collection for the game boy. He knows I've got it and can't wait for Christmas. "Your the best grandma" sums it up!
I got this game for my sone because he is a huge Pokemon fan. We have the old system and he loves it. It's one of his favorite games!:)
This game was fun, in great condition, and delivered within a reasonable amount of time.
