I purchased this TV VCR/DVD combo for my office because I wanted something small, and easy to use. The only component I have hooked up to it is a digital cable box. Please know that the VCR does not have it's own tuner; so when the timer is recording the TV cannot be changed. This is very simple to use. This is my second RCA "TruFlat" TV and I enjoy it immensely because there is little glare, the picture tube is smaller, and the TV picture can be viewed from any angle. I also use the VCR timer to program & record some of my favorite TV shows. Do not hesitate to choose RCA because you will not be disappointed.
And of course I wanted to get an RCA because RCA offers the most value for the dollar. I am very pleased with this combo unit. Also, after you set up the programing to record your show(s) you must hit the button "timer rec" on the remote control so these functions take effect; I suppose this is the equivalent to "shutting" off your VCR when you timer record off a standard VCR / TV. It was very easy to install and use. This is also an RCA "TruFlat" TV.
