Confusing for my mother and makes this product absolutely useless to us. Bought for my 89 year old mother. The voice is a female with an English accent and instead of saying "eight thirty", she says "half past eight".
She doesn't hear well and the lady with the British accent is hard for her to understand. I bought the talking clock for my mother=in-law.
Have no problem getting the signal in west coast. The announcement of time format is too formal(personal preference), it'll announce as 43min pass 5 pm or half pass 10 am instead of just saying 5 forty-three pm or 10 thirty am that make the long story short. I'm nearsighted can't see anything without my glasses, and I only use the clock to know what time it is when I wake in the middle of sleep, can't see the clock in dark anyway (no back-light or grow in the dark), don't use the hourly announcement cause that's the time I sleep. Other then that everything is fine, the announcing voice and alarm is clear with the high volume setting (but not loud at all).
My mother uses this clock every night when she wakes and can't see the standard clock. Very helpful.
Good quality. Time sets automatically to atomic clock time. Pleasant voice tells the time as part of the alarm, or anytime by pressing the top. Alarm is easy to reset, controls are in front, and display shows both real time and alarm time w/o changing screens. As advertised. Helps resolve 82 year old mother's concerns that she will miss her alarm or won't be able to read the time, or that controls are too hard to find, read or use. Just have to remember to turn alarm on with side button.
