This hourglass is poorly made - the blown glass is loose from it's holder, and leaks sand.

It's decorative, and helps the younger kids conceptualize how long an hour is and keeps them focused on whatever you want them to do for an hour. We keep the hourglass by the piano.

If my hourglass did not have this defect, I would have given it 5 stars. This is annoying. I have to guess, however, that this is a sample defect rather than a problem across the board with the product. The hourglass looks good and is accurate when working properly. On occassion (about 5% of the time), the sand gets jammed in the neck of the hourglass and the timepiece ceases to function.
