River City Clocks 801-401 16-Inch Atomic Gallery Wall Clock Reviews

4. Press the button for your time zone. Regarding this clock, the picture doesn't show it well, but there's an understated gold metal ring around the face. Using a piece of metalI use the head of a small nailshort together the two metal leads in the hole of the upper left of the works module. 2. After some research, I found the method to reset these clocks and I thought I'd share. 3. The La Crosse correctly reset itself for the new time zone change and the Skyscan didn't, but with a little effort, it was correct also.

1. From reading other reviews, it looks like people in the Eastern time zone, like me, are the ones with the most trouble with the clocks resetting themselves. The following morning, the clock should show the correct time. They all use the same works module.

Place the clock facing Denver, CO overnight. Using something pointy, press the small gray button above and between the Eastern and Central time zone buttons.

If not, try again the next night. When the clock needs to reset itself:.

Remove the battery and put it back after at least 10 seconds.

5. This is an elegant clock and it's big enough to read from across a room.

This is the third atomic clock I've owned, one is a La Crosse and the other is a Skyscan.

moolie I love this clock. My previous clock had a pine branch with a couple of pine cones. However, being pretty is not half as important as being punctual. It was really very pretty. It does keep exact time as advertised. The only thing that I miss is a scene on the face.

Note that it is not possible to override the radio signal and adjust the clock yourself. I've owned this clock for about a year and a half now, and it is great except that it won't adjust for daylight savings time in the spring. However, for the Eastern Time Zone, you'll just have to live with it being an hour off all summer. The clock is on a wall near large, south-facing windows, and I live by a major city, so radio signal is not the problem. As others have mentioned I've tried everything to reset it, but it always ends up an hour early until fall. If you live in the central, mountain, or pacific time zones, you could adjust for DST manually by pressing the button for the next time zone over.

However, it behaves a little strangely. This would be fine if it set itself at 2 AM or some other time, but not during the work day. Next, it seems to want to set itself pretty much every day. Almost like it gets stuck for a second. Just be prepared for these little quirks. This is cool because we wanted a clock we didn't have to set, but it does so at an odd time, around 4 PM every day.

When searching for a clock, I wanted one that was quite large and would match well with the wood trim in my office. This is problematic because it's during the work day and everyone who looks up around 4 PM sees the minute and second hand blazing around the clock attempting to get to the right time. The second hand is one of those that "ticks" every second (as opposed to a Rolex watch that moves in a continuous fashion), but every few seconds, it seems to hang and not proceed to the next second. From what I have observed, it seems it must run a bit fast and has to "come all the way around" to get to the right time every day. For the price, it's great. This clock exceeds my expectations in looks and size.

Nice clock, but the change in daylight savings time this year made the atomic clock feature useless for three weeks. It was a useless excercise. The website noted that they're NOT SURE how the clock will react in the fall when Standard time resumes, since it will be a week later than normal. Then remove and re-insert the battery and allow the clock to set via the radio signal. Oh and vote out everyone who changed the daylight savings/ Standard time dates. I would check with the manufacturer before buying one to see if they have fixed the problem. A visit to their website noted the problem and the only solution offered is to manually set the clock until the original daylight savings time was scheduled.
