Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player Reviews
Also, a great player. I connect through component cables (I probably bought the last generation of flat screen tv's that didn't have HDMI), and the picture is fantastic. One issue I've read about a number of b/r players is that the discs load slow. Already did a firmware upgrade via USB.
Not so with this one. Not as good as a newer gen flat panel, but still better than dvd. Load time for both blu-ray and dvd is less than 30 seconds. Great price.
Super easy. Altogether, I'm very pleased with the player and highly recommend it. Just got this through Amazon.com after some pretty extensive shopping around.
easy to use and has great picture in 1080 if your tv supports 1080. love samsung products. this is a great blue ray for the money.
the samsung blu ray is well worth getting amazing picture and sound. its worth getting at such a great price. i love it.
We just signed up for Netflix and I had purchased the superior HD DVD player a while ago before they were sunk by big companies. My HDDVD player took forever (start it up, go make a sandwich, get a beer, and then MAYBE, you'll be able to put the disc in). It was stunning and the movie isn't a bad one either, I'm sure my kids will watch a couple hundred more times. First noticeable difference is that it fires up and is ready in no time.
It has a LAN port, but the device is miles away from the cable modem and we use mostly wireless laptops at the house, so for the firm upgrade, I downloaded from Samsung's site, extracted the zip file, copied the upgrade file to a simple usb thumb drive, started the player up after removing the disc and the upgrade went off without a hitch, so I guess I can manage that, no problem. I put a "regular" DVD in and it started play right away and I noticed a difference in image quality (the Samsung upconverts, blah, blah). I have HD programming thru cable for now and had the HD DVD (up to 1080i only) but 1080P is even better. Well, as you know, HD DVD is in Hades with BetaMax and others.Netflix has BluRay discs and so I purchased this player from Amazon after researching here and at cnet.com.
I recommend for anyone wanting a bluray/regular player for $250.it's well worth the money. I couldn't wait so I bought my daughter the Bee Movie in BluRay and WOW.; it's out of this world.
I can do upgrades via disc or USB so it is a minor issue for me. It is a good value and performs well over HDMI with contemporary gear. Picture from blu-ray disc is excellent.
It isn't able to get address automatically and when plugged in affected home network. This was a good choice for me as I planned to process audio codecs in AVR. I haven't had any problems playing discs.
I am also very pleased with the DVD upconversion. My unit may have a network issue. It may be issue between it an switch.
