Samsung CLP-510 Color Laser Printer Reviews
The toner over spray or what ever the canister is under the front panel that is supposed to catch it leaks. SATAY AWAY. NO other unit has caused so much trouble. I have tried 6 different paper types all the same result.
I have an HP 4700 that is expensive but amazing, a Lexmark(noisy but great) and slew of B&W various models. This is a terrible printer. The thing is noisy and poor quality.
I have had nothing but trouble with it since the install(which was easy. The print quality is marginal, the paper jams every day.
Note that the refills for the toner are over $100 each. Combine that with parts needing to be replaced within a year of over $300, and this is a very "disposable" printer.
So, into the junk pile it goes - let the buyer beware, you get what you pay for. Bought it new 3 months ago, it wrapped paper around one of the rollers, (an internal roller you cannot access), Samsung has put me around and around in circles for 2 weeks over a warranty repair. Too bad they couldn't just stand behind their warranty. And the thing is, they don't even care if people never buy their products again.
I bought my clp-510 color laser printer more than two years ago. You know how it is, if something works this well and shows signs of longevity, they'll quit supporting it so you have to buy something new that better fits their planned obsolesence model. I hate when they do that. It just sits there and prints ream after ream of really nice color copy, two sided, brochure fold, whatever and I've never even had to replace an original cartridge (they're huge, part of why it's so big and heavy). I'm thinking I should buy a set of replacement toner cartridges because I'm fearful they'll stop making them. I've used it a ton and it's never jammed or done anything wrong.
I occasionally use it to print photos, but usually it is web pages which are mostly black but some color. Cons: takes a while to start printing, the labels I tried to print on did not feed (they were laser approved labels, but too thick), takes up a lot of desk space. Pros: Good color, cheap, duplexing (many printers that cost twice this much don't do that).
I also print things like google maps. I have had none of the blurriness reported by other people. Overall, a good value printer for a home user or home office.
I also purchased the network card accessory, in order to set this printer up as a network printer. I purchased the CLP-510 about 6 months ago.
