Samsung is one of the top-ten electronics manufacturers in the world and an acknowledged leader in the digital convergence revolution. Since its inception in 1969, Samsung has successfully transitioned from an analog driven product line to a cutting-edge and award-winning digital innovator.
The ML-170D2/XAA is a monochrome black toner cartridge designed for use with Samsung's ML-1710 and ML-1750 laser printers. With the ML-1710 and ML-1750's advanced laser printing method, the ML-170D2/XAA prints smudge-free images and text that are easy to read. A duty cycle of 3,000 pages (at 5% coverage) means you need to change cartridges less frequently. Weighing around 2.8 lbs, the ML-170D2/XAA is also easy to install and replace. Simply open the front cover of the printer, slide in the toner cartridge until it snaps into place, and close the front cover. One toner cartridge is provided per box.

Samsung ML-1710D3 Toner Drum for ML-1700 Series Laser Printers Reviews
The toner works as described by the manufacturer. I always use the brand name replacements and have found them to perform well.
Life's too short to deal with the inconvenience and problems that the refills somtimes cause. Every time I go with the more expensive option and never regret it. Every time I need a new printer refill (not often) I agonize about buying the more expensive "Name brand" or the cheaper "brand X" refill.
While this cartridge work significantly better than any of the refills I have tried, it isn't necessarily worth the money if you don't need finished draft quality. Especially since the print crispness has degrade significantly over the last month or so.
I have not deviated from this and my little Samsung ML1710 has been "bullet-proof". Toner output is consistent and very reliable especially in crucial moments when you absolutely need every bit of toner out of that drum. I've gone through 6 cartridges now and the printer is like the "little-engine that could". The key to longer printer life is use of original manufacturer toner. Ok, once in a while I have to shake it sideways to get more but truly, when it's empty, you better have a spare ready. Soon, I will need another ML1710 but for now, I'll buy another toner.
Simple user report: we get about 1,500 sheets per ml-1710 with text and some graphics. Thats about $0.05 per sheet (at $80 per drum).
