Samsung SCX-4725FN Network Laser Multifunction Printer, Copier, Fax, Color Scanner Reviews

Plus it doesn't scan across the network. No probems with Printing, Copying and faxing. The upside is that it's a laser printer. Does anyone know of a setting that can be changed so that it will automatically put all the scans from a "single" "mutli page" scan into "one" document.

That's annoying and it sux. Scanning is missing a few bolts. Hence forcing you to do the work of combining all the documents into one pdf. I was happy with this all in one until I found out that if you scan a 10 page document to pdf, it will open 10 seperate pdf documents. Prints fast and faxes fast and clean.

That's annoying.

IT TOOK ABOUT 5 SECONDS TO SCAN A PAGE THROUGH THE DOCUMENT FEEDER. Although I did not buy it from amazon, I feel this is the best place to review it. When I got the box opened it took about 5 minutes to set it up. So I was thrilled about that. I installed the drivers and everything was up and running in no time. My 17 page lease took up a mere 285kB when converted to word format. 2).

You should only run the OCR programs on pages that are just text though. There are the resolution and color settings. For resolution, obviously the higher the resolution, the finer the image. I have it set up via USB connection, so I cannot comment about its network capabilities. I even scanned all of my notes for a current semester at an Ivy League university. There are a couple of different parameters to set for the scanner.

Running OCR on documents that contain alot of pictures or on poor copies can be problematic. It was a real breeze. I found all the text on my utility bills legible at 200dpi, just one setting above the lowest resolution. The file size remained about the same across all color modes. The scanning time became much longer for the other color modes. If you are scanning text however, it doesnt require very high resolution.

There was an easyrebate involved. But when the OCR program is finished and the document is saved in word format there is a HUGE difference. In the first 3 hours of owning this beauty, I had scanned every important piece of paper in my apartment. I love this machine, and so will you. For that just save the scan as a PDF and you'll be fine. I bought this printer cheaper than it probably should have been.

2 things surprised me when I scanned this document in the other color modes (true color, 24-bit color, black and white):. I did run a series of tests on its scanning however. A 2 page document takes up roughly 200kb in grayscale mode when saved as a PDF. 1). There is an OCR program included with the software and it requires a resolution of 300dpi, which doesnt make a huge difference in file size or scanning time.

But what really let me down is that this printer cannot scan via the network connection. only USB. I've confirmed this with Samsung's Tier 2 support. and even faxing (though I don't need that feature). They claim they never marketed it as a networked scanner. but I have to say I feel misled. I am pretty happy with the networked printing.

Nothing to complain about. Just use a program to acquire the image with the supplied twain driver, which by the way, is a nice piece of software. Got my samsung hardwired to my network.

It is wonderful. Scans are easy. My wireless laptops can print to it no problem.

I purchased this product strictly because of the price. Wakes from sleep fast, prints fast, and its quiet. It really is like having a full blown office machine in your home.

And fast.

Setup took less than 5 minutes without looking at the manual. Overall, we highly recommend this printer. The price was hundreds below everything we looked at from HP, Lexmark and Xerox and we're extremely happy with our purchase. The only negative is that you may have a bit of trouble locating toner locally so be sure to keep extras on hand, since you can't just run over to the corner office supply store and expect to see it on the shelf. The unit prints very quickly from our mixed Mac and Windows network and the print quality is superb. Overall a great printer/fax/scanner at an amazing price. We needed to replace a 5 year old Xerox all in one and decided to go with the Samsung 4725FN.
