Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW 21.6-inch LCD Monitor Reviews
I have seen none of the bleeding others have mentioned, nor have I experienced any buzzing. I am not using the supplied stand. The picture is sharp, and the colors are good. I have a "WorkRite SwingArm" Workrite Sa1500-db Flat Panel Monitor Swing Arm (Extended), which is working well. The only negative I have is something that seems to be common to all LCD's of this type: digital photographs that appear correctly exposed on a CRT display appear overexposed on the LCD. It is such a pleasure using the large screen space. I have owned the Samsung 2253lw for about two months, and its performance has been outstanding.
Perfect size for a medium desk, enough real estate for gaming and business. With DVI and VGA connections, this monitor is ready for your PC.
Fortunately, I have a copy of those things, and they again asked me to wait until Oct 6, 2008 and I should be able to receive my monitor then. I asked the manager to call SAMSUNG and told them I paid for a new monitor. The second time I called (around Sept 30), they said they wanted to know the time (and the number from) which I faxed my receipt to them. I bought this product in early Sept. I called again on Oct 7 because I still did not have the new monitor.
On Oct 16, I got a call from them and asked me to pick up my monitor. So you have to adjust your chair to make sure that you have a good view. I went to the designated UPS store, and I found that they had sent me a REFURBISHED monitor. They agreed to send me a 24'' new monitor and I was told I should be able to receive it by Oct 24. But apparently, I still don't have it today (Nov 1).
So I called, and finally they raised my case from level 3 to level 1. I was told to wait until Oct 6, 2008. I just made a call, and they told me they needed the receipt from me AGAIN. The height and angle of the monitor is not adjustable. After faxing my receipt to them, I called them to make sure that they had all documents they wanted. After using it for 3 days, I found a dead pixel on the left corner of the screen.
So I asked for a change on Sept 15, 2008.
Their range of tilt is limited and the rotation is achieved by placing the entire base on a lazy susan type mechanism. For the price of this monitor however they are appropriate. They are NOT unusable by any means however, compared to the rugged stands provided on some monitors, these are lightweight. One sent back due to one vertical column of stuck pixels. Original vendor unable to supply replacement monitor so purchased second through Amazon.
The weakest aspect of these monitors are the stands. Have a third high end HP monitor in the display array also so its easy to compare these monitors with it. The black of the Samsung is significantly blacker and the image is slightly more crisp. Overall I would buy this monitor again and would recommend it to a friend. No problems whatsoever.
Very happy with monitors. Both used 8-10 hours a day. Bought 2 monitors from another vendor.
I also do not find the button location inconvenient as some people have also reported. They do shake a little if you wiggle the desk however they do not shake during normal typing. Using both in duel monitor display mode. I have not had the hum problem some people have reported at lower brightness settings.
are really horrible to use and you can't see them on the glass that you're better off using the included software. The buttons to adjust brightness/contrast, etc. I'm returning this for a full 22 inch model. Nice 8000:1 contrast but not as good as Samsung's other model which has 20000:1 contrast but that model doesn't have rear mount holes like this one so I can buy a 3rd party LCD stand for portrait mode so I don't have to scroll vertically on websites, iTunes, Quicken, Windows Explorer, etc. 10/10/08 update: I wish I could change my rating to 4 stars because it's only 21.5in whereas other monitors are a full 22in which means that in portrait mode, I would get a 1/4" wider screen do yourself a favor and buy a true 22 inch monitor and not a 21.5 inch.
