Similar to the smaller-screened SyncMaster series monitors, the Samsung 305T SyncMaster 30-Inch Large Format Digital LCD Monitor offers razor-sharp image clarity and a host of innovative features, but with some serious extra width. Take the next step with the 305T SyncMaster and bring the world into your home or office with greater clarity than before. The image quality of the massive, 30-inch screen offers wide viewing angles with bright colors for a very favorable viewing experience. With a wider viewing angle (178-degree vertical and horizontal viewing angle) Samsung makes sure you can see objects on your screen even when you're leaning over to grab a snack. With millions of colors bombarding your rods and cones, you'll be impressed with the clearer, brighter imagery that this wide spectrum monitor has to offer. Another impressive feature of the 305T is the pixel pitch, or the distance between pixels. This specification is usually measured in millimeters, and the smaller the pitch the sharper the image. Samsung offers a remarkable 0.250-millimeter pixel pitch for outstanding image clarity. The most talked about spec associated with LCD monitors is the measure of the difference of brightness levels between the brightest white and the darkest dark--the contrast ratio. With a contrast ration of 1000:1, this monitor assures crisp, easy-to-view images. Lastly, Samsung has designed this monitor with MagicContrast to process high-contrast ratios to guarantee an abundant palette of perfect color. Whether you're watching movies or videos with color-rich images, this monitor is the perfect choice. Other features include compatibility with all major operating systems and a quick 8ms response time that virtually eliminates the "blur" that is present in 25, 16, and 12ms monitors (this is especially good news for gamers). Speaking of a gaming, this monitor is compatible with the Nvidia Geforce 7900GT, GeForce 7800, GeForce 7600, Quadro FX3000 (AGP Type) ATI Radeon X1900XTX, Radeon X1900XT, and Radeon X1800XT graphic cards for some serious large-format gaming action. Connectivity is also important when choosing a monitor. The 305T features a Dual DVI digital link input video signal, a separate H/V sync-type input, and a DV-D (dual link) input connector.

Samsung SyncMaster 305T 30-inch LCD Monitor Reviews
If anything goes wrong, expect to waste a lot of time and energy dealing with their customer service and don't expect them to replace your unit. Mine stopped working after 9 months. Still waiting for a refund and determined never to buy from Samsung again. That's right: Samsung don't have any more of these. Waited 2 months for a replacement, only to be told that they had no replacement units in stock. So, a great deal while it works. A fine monitor, but.
I was going to buy the Apple 30" but after reading the reviews I chose the Samsung 30". Sorry Samgsung I won't be buying your products again. I returned it back to Amazon and Amazon sent me a new one. I called Samsung again and again they said it was a defective monitor. The second one doesn't work either. The first one I received did not work out of the box, I called Samsung they said it was a defective monitor, send back.
Bought this a few weeks ago. It was a cheaper alternative to an Apple 30" screen and it has filled the bill beautifully. Easy to install, amazingly crisp and clear.
(sorry, the lame Amazon formatting software breaks the nice columns I attempted to make. There is also no real reason to make anything full screen. There is a minor video instability that one only sees with solid backgrounds. 0 Watts Samsung 305T (DPMS induced off, blanked, backlight off). 124-127 Watts Samsung 305T (on, highest intensity). Windows are just too darn wide to use that way. 52 Watts Samsung 305T (on, lowest intensity). Highly recommended.
Once you get spoiled using this monitor, you'll never enjoy using a 24" one again. One minor pain in the neck with this monitor is that it is dual-link. I got a passively cooled ATI Radeon HD 3450 and that works just fine under Xorg. It is almost like the back lighting isn't filtered enough against the 60hz/120hz power supply ripple and the ~60 hz refresh of the lcd are beating a bit. It is quite noticeable to me on the blueish fedora-9 login screen. (also no power used). 72-77 Watts Samsung 305T (on, med intensity, cyclic also). Still, I have no problem paying a bit more in electricity over a 24" monitor to get this much added real estate.
The energy star rating on this is a bit of a joke. boot messages show up with no problems) and it works flawlessly under the current Xorg. (note, power usage cycles, hence the two numbers). This thing takes 130 Watts, that is more than my old CRT monitors used to take. First of all, Linux and BSD folks don't need to sit this one out.
-wsr) It took me almost 4 weeks of slapping myself on the forehead to stop hitting the iconify keystroke when I was done with a window. There is usually no need to iconify anything when you are done using it. One can see bands of slightly brighter horizontal lines moving up the screen rapidly. You too can use this wonderful monitor. of 4 watts for a few seconds as it is powering down). Who are they kidding. added 2008-09-25:.
0 Wattts Samsung 305T (soft-off via front panel button). It really is the same 100dpi as the 24" 1200x1920 monitors, just with a few more usable pixels tacked on horizontally and vertically. There is one minor bug with this monitor. It works just fine, both in ascii terminal mode (eg. This is a great toy. (note, no power used, there is a transient state.
Just tile all your windows and leave them there. The one thing that takes a bit of getting used to is that iconifying or maximizing a window is almost always a mistake. Actual power usage as measured by a "KILL A WATT" power meter:. That means one needs to find a dual-link capable frame buffer. All in all, even with the minor quibbles I'm still smiling from ear to ear.
So far it's been great. I had this shipped overseas, since it's not readily available around where I live. Besides the bigger size and higher resolution, I can now move the screen up or down as well as tilt it back and forth. I do miss the on screen controls though (for brightness, contrast, and so on) which were available with the 226BW. I replaced the Samsung SyncMaster 226BW with this model. It arrived in perfect condition and worked without a hitch.
