Samsung SyncMaster 740N 17-inch LCD Monitor Reviews
Two small concerns, though. We were able to put the monitor and stand on something that raises it about 4 inches, so everything's all right. However, the inner box (Samsung's) saved the day, with no damage whatsoever to the monitor. The monitor itself is fine; I would buy one again. I took photos, expecting to find nothing workable inside. But it's too bad Samsung didn't spend a few cents more on the plastic stand to make it tilt. This was something of a disappointment.
The monitor's stand doesn't tilt. The outer box (Amazon's) arrived in bad condition; tape coming off, box partially open. 2. 1.
This monitor recently stopped working. Buyer beware. This works, but now the monitor is doing this much more frequently. My computer would be on and then the monitor would go black, the monitor would still be on but nothing shows up on the screen. I suppose it was good for 2 years but now I have to buy a new monitor because I can't find the warranty papers.
I did a search on Google and found that this is a common problem across MANY of the Samsung LCD lines. It's something with the circuitry. The solution is to unplug the monitor for 5 minutes and plug it back in. I've used the 710N model for 2 years now.
My entire office of 300+ people uses these monitors and no one has ever had one break and no one complains about them. They're light, bright, sturdy, and perfect for looking at 40 hours per week.
which is what I did. Fantastic monitor. are great. We were looking for a Samsung because their quality is awesome. Can't beat it. My husband has had a Samsung and loves it, The quality, picture, color, etc. Super easy to install and amazon had it to me the next day. get a knock-off and you'll end up buying again in about 2 years.
I needed a new monitor for my office, and decided to upgrade my home monitor with this 17" Samsung, and take the Dell to work. I played with the various controls, finally came to the conclusion that the product is inferior to the inexpensive Dell monitor I already had. Make sure that you are happy with what you see. You're probably going to spend a lot of hours staring at this thing. (something I don't do much anymore) and look at the screen before I make my purchase. The resolution on the Samsung was disappointing. I have been using a 15" dell flat screen monitor at my home. My advise is the same to you.
When I unplugged the Samsung, and replaced it with the Dell, I was relieved. I took the Samsung to my office, and placed it at a workstation that doesn't get much use :-(. Simple type was slightly muddy. Next time I purchase a monitor, I'm going to go to an actual store (). Much easier on the eyes.
