I love this player, have used it for about 2 years now both for audiobooks that I have in mp3 format and for Rhapsody-to-go.
Sandisk Sansa Clip 8GB MP3 Player (Black)
This unit has a serious flaw. When I connect it to the computer to recharge the battery it automatically starts to erase the units library, and if I try to add an album it will first delete every item stored on the unit before it downloads new items. I haven't been able to figure out how to counter this, I have emailed the factory tech site and never received an answer to how to deal with this problem. I can charge it in the car with no computer present.
Unless a person has a serious love of frustration I would suggest spending the extra money for an Ipod.
I got this MP3 player because I did not want to spend the money on an Ipod. It was cheap, had good reviews and came with ear buds. I am perfectly happy with it.
One item of note, in case anyone is not aware: you cannot download Itunes directly to it. You have to make a CD and then rip the CD to get music that way. Itunes is copyrighted so it only plays on Ipods. Or, you can do like I do and buy music from Amazon. Their selection is not bad, (though not as good as Itunes, of course) and they can be used on an Ipod, Windows Media player and this MP3 player.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase!
I have had this MP3 player for about six months now, and have not found many problems. I like it a lot, and have actually washed it through the washing machine without loosing anything. It drained my battery, and I would suggest keeping it off for 2-3 days before connecting to your PC or Mac if it happened to you.
I owned the 2 GB version and loved it, but needed a little more storage. I love the sound, the ease of use, the view screen- everything! I love how it clips onto my shirt while I'm working out or working around the house. This is a fantastic purchase, and I highly recommend it to everyone!
