I bought this transmitter for my Sansa mp3, but to my disappointment there was very bad reception, way too much static. I would NOT recommend this product.
The only down side to the sound is the bass on certain songs. This product also comes with a handy belt clip. The neck is very flexible. The bass is easily fixed through the player, and obviously your own sound system in your car. After a short while, it's true what they say, it just doesn't seem to stand up-right anymore. I must admit I was very weary of buying this product. The sound is INCREDIBLE.
Basically I promised myself this would be the last time I try something like this. Along with the belt clip, are some rubber sockets to help the player better plug into your adapter, which leaves little worry in adapter size difference from car to car. Then again, my car's interior is black. Many people also complain about how the backlight never stays on. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product. Therefore, you do not have to worry about it draining your car's battery. It stays perfectly in place without looking trashy in anyway.
I come from an area (virginia beach, va) that has many radio stations and the pretuned one this dock came with worked perfectly. If you're still worried, there are "auto-off" options in the MP3 you can customize to turn off after a certain amount of idle time. Also, the version I got here, on amazon, does not run your car's battery. It says clearly on user guide "Auto Off: turns off when there is no audio input for 4 minutes". I'm so glad I took a chance, I really was about to give up on listening to the MP3 player in my car. In order to fix this problem I got a small square of velcro, attached it to the back of the dock and another side to my car, and voila.
I believe that has to do with my specific sound equipment in my car though, therefore I still give this product 5 stars. If you didn't like the plastic case and velcro the MP3 player originally came with, you'll DEFINITELY love this instead. I must also make note that this player DOES NOT charge the battery to the MP3 player. I've found a great medium. This purchase is definitley worth your time and money and I do not see how anyone couldn't be satisfied.
However, even if the battery is dead, if you plug it in, the MP3 player will manage to play perfectly. Obviously the title gives way to my amazement. I take the player out of the car, and use the belt clip when I'm working out at the gym. Once again, the option for how long the backlight stays on is in the player's menu, and there is an option for "never turns off". I cannot explain just how happy I am over the quality.
I had first bought something similar (not brand name) in a local Best Buy and was so incredibly disappointed I returned it to the store 10 minutes later. This is confusing to me because it makes me wonder if they really have ever explored their MP3 player's menu.
I use the silicon case to protect my player. I took off the belt clip that comes with the case. The product works well. One review mentioned the Sansa player won't fit in the transmitter with the silicon case on. I live in an area that is crowded with stations and the transmitter still provided a strong enough signal to override weak stations and provide near quality audio. The player and case fits well enough in the transmitter. I purchased the transmitter because I don't have an aux input in my car.
HOwever, the most important thing is the sound quality, which really is very, very poor. I gave it a two star, because I give credit to the other aspects of the product like the casing, the gooseneck support, and the fact that it is easy to turn it back on when it loses its power. The sound quality is really awful.
