I use to consider myself a gadget guy. But it seems todays mp3, cell phones etc are too complicated and loaded with features I don't want or need. If you want an mp3 for pics, video or a touchscreen don't buy this. But if you are like me and just want to be able to have music without the annoyance of bringing 500 cds with you everywhere than for the price you can't beat this product. I think ipods are a rip off. You have to buy each song. That can add up to thousands of dollars. I tranfer my cds to thisand I pay 14.99 a month for rhapsody. That may sound like alot. But when you consider the cost of cds and the amount of space in your car and home that cds take up, thats acceptable. The little sansa is simple to use and holds alot of musi. I have1076 songs on mine right now. that takes up 7806 mb of space and i still have 1076 mb left for more songs. Its easy to use and sounds great. I highly recommend this player.
I purchased this product for my father Christmas 08. It seemed like a great little player. A couple of weeks ago(Feb 2010) the screen went black. The player continues to work but it is very hard to navigate without a screen. I contacted the tech support to see if they would be able to help fix this problem. Essentially the player is broke and out of warranty was the response. The complete dialouge is below. They were courteous but worthless. I would not recommend this player (or any product from Sandisk as a result). Althought inexpensive, you get what you pay for. My blackberry works great as a MP3 player, voice recorder, camera, video camera, ect and it take a beating and keeps working. This player was not abused, it even had the protective case and it still quit working.

Rodney H: you can imagine that this does not make my day a great day. It's a crappy feeling to spend my hard earned money on a gift for my dad and then that gift breaks.

I return one that I brought as a gift but broke (the ear phone jack stopped working) and amazon would only refund the money because the price was too low. So I payed more and received this one. If you like to listen to mp3 and watch video this is a good player. The screen is small so check it out if you can before buying. But I do like this one and silver is better looking than the black ones.
I bought this unit over 60 days ago and it works very well.No customer support issues to report.Battery life is good to this point.I recommend different headphones if you are going to use the unit for the gym or walks,etc. .I am using with a rhapsody subscribition and that is working well.All in all the only thing that makes the Apple Nano better is the podcasting use,camera, and the weight of the unit(which I find trivial,but if your a distance runner it might be an issue.)But for the price I recommend it.
Have had the player a short time so still on a learning curve, but it has been problem free and working as expected.mp
