And for me (mom) it's very simple to add the music to it. Simple enough for almost any child. We have ipods & other mp3 players but this has got to be the simplest of them all. It also has a 2nd place for somebody else to plug his or her ear phones in as well so 2 people can listen to it at a time.
I would highly recommend this MP3 player.

I use it while cooking, taking a bath, and at bedtime. As an audiobook fanatic, the ability to swap cards in and out is a dream. The shaker remembers the last file played whenever you turn it off, so it easy to pick up where you left off. For the price, this is an OUTSTANDING player. I have dropped all of them numerous times (including water and mud) and stepped on them more times than I can count, and all continue to work perfectly. Since it works entirely off SD cards, I never hook it up to the computer. Fantastic product. While not having a screen that allows you to select a particular song (or book) by name, I load files on the card in folders in the order I want to hear them, so it's only takes a few twists for me to reach the file I want.
Simply drag and drop files via my card reader. Not at the exact word, as it will start at the beginning of the last file played, but it's no different than reading a book where you are forced to go back a few pages to reorient yourself. I currently own 4 of these. One is permanently stationed in the kitchen, bedroom, bath and clipped to my backpack. The external speaker is MIRACULOUS.
I thought there was a problem with the cap that protects the memory card and battery because it kept falling off as the reviews said, however once I was shown how to operate the Sansa Shaker properly it is not a problem any longer, when changing the songs if you make sure that they only turn the directional band and not grab the entire bottom it won't fall off; you also have to make sure that the cap clicks when putting back on that is the lock position. So I would recommend it for other children. However I personally have not had a problem with it so far. I bought it for my 7yr old daughters birthday and she absolutely loves it. As far as the battery life I find that the rechargeable batteries hold longer even when she is listening to the music through the speaker.
I saw the Sansa shaker for a much lower price and if he wants to play it out loud for eveyone to hear, he just unplugs his headphones - no buying speakers to go along with it. Shaking it does nothing. After about 8 months, it just stopped working. My 3-year-old son had a Fisher Price FP3 player that he loved. We've had it for about 5 weeks now and so far, it's been great - although the whole "shaker" part of it does not seem to work. He has to twist the end to change the song.
