After swapping out the old drive for the new, the computer booted right up and I have had no problem for over one month now. I went online to download the latest version of the DiscWizard, installed it and used it to clone the new drive. The larger cache (16 MB) and the faster speed (7200 rpm) seem to speed up the computer a bit, i.e., it is noticeably faster. Purchased from Amazon, but was shipped by J&R.
For the price that I paid and the long warranty, this is a first-class purchase. The whole process took less than one hour. I purchased this Seagate 320 GB hard drive to replace an original 40 GB drive that came with my Dell Dimension 2400. Service was good as usual, the drive arrived on the day promised. The drive runs fairly quite.
If you have an older computer that uses ATA 100 interface, this is a fairly decent drive to upgrade to.
I am very happy with the product, and will definately order from this retailer again. Will also recommend to friends. Received well before expected, brand new packaged in retail package.
No problems so far other than the occasional clicking sound. This drive runs hotter than a Maxtor I have installed. The drive itself is running fine though. I have installed HDD Health and it tells me the hard drive is around 65% healthy as opposed to the older Maxtor showing as 80% healthy. I have also had other Seagate drives that run hotter than Maxtor. I haven't dug deeper into this so I am not sure of the root cause. This is after a month of usage.
Superb seller. Since it was just what was expected, I couldn't ask for more except maybe quick shipping, which I got with flying colors.
Easy to install, included software makes for fast and easy setup to add this as a second drive. Also includes software for transfering your main boot drive and data to the new drive, but I did not try this. The dirve is fast and quiet, and runs cool.
