Seiko Bedside Alarm Clock Silver-Tone Metallic Case #QXE011ALH Reviews

This clock is fabulous. The design is totally cool and the large letters are easily seen at night without my glasses. I love that when I set the alarm I know I have set it because of the green light. The alarm is a cascade of ringing starting off quietly and increasing in volume-not too annoying but it makes you want to get up and turn it off. I shopped for a clock for a long time. Though it was more than I wanted to spend I am really happy with my purchase.

I saw this alarm clock at a top nnotch Boston 5 Star hotel and just had to have it! It did not dissapoint me in any way. I LUV it!

I got the black version of this a few years ago as a requested birthday gift. The claim to be the "ultimate" alarm clock by a good company was intriguing, and I had a crappy little Ikea quartz alarm clock that I hated. You had to pick it up and set it from behind, you couldn't easily tell if the alarm was on; in short, it sucked! It was also $5 to $10, so I live and learn......

But this Seiko clock is the stuff! The amber vs green color is an instant and intuitive way to see if the alarm is on. The tap for light to read the time is simple and intuitive. The big dial right on the front makes setting the alarm easy. The other settings in the back prevent accidentally screwing up the time. The snooze tap bar is big and simple, as is the alarm on/ off. Not a visual stunner, but a good, readable size, and a fairly elegant look for plastic. I love love love a product that is intuitive and has the right set of features. You could figure this one out without the instructions, and that's great. That must be why they put these in some hotels.

My only complaint, which tempted me not to give it that final star is that the slow to fast alarm moves up too quickly, which is stressful. Give me a little more time to get up! But for all I know, they fixed it. And regardless, that's not a dealbreaker for an otherwise excellent clock. I hope I never have to replace it!

My wife is delighted with the appearance and silent function of this clock. The display is clear and attractive, setting is easy, and the alarm is insistence enough (and with a variable tone) to wake up a heavy sleeper.

DITTO T. Warren's review. This IS the greatest alarm clock. Perfectly functional. Easy to use. Has a light. AA battery operated. Different color light for when the alarm IS set and for when the alarm ISN'T set.

I have this now in BOTH colors - black and silver. I wanted a spare in case anything happened to my beloved clock.

I am the original clock fanatic. I have searched far and wide for the perfect alarm clock. Believe it or not, for all the reviews that say it is cheaply made - which ALL clocks are now compared to 15 years ago - this is still the best thing going.

Maybe I am just used to the black color, but after I received the silver in the mail today, I think I prefer the black. The numbers are bolder and more to the center. On the silver, however, around the outside of the dial, outside of where the big numbers are 1-12 for the hours, there are corresponding tiny numbers 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. for the minutes. Small difference.

In any case, I would use black or silver because it is the same GREAT clock.

BTW - Muffin said: "and it has a push light to see it in the dark, but it doesn't stay lit all night whether you want it to or not." This is not true. On the inside where the batteries are, there is a switch for "auto-light". If you choose "on" then a dim light goes on when it gets dark, although pressing the snooze button makes the light brighter for seeing the dial better.
