There are a lot better choices than this camcorder. I have always had a noise coming from the inside of the camcorder. I received this camcorder for Christmas. I used the recommended cleaning tapes, but didn't seem to work.
I have a friend with the same camcorder, and hers is broke also. The only difference between the two, is mine will still record, but the noise is louder, and hers won't record at all. But over time the noise had gotten louder. The repair will cost to much to fix.
According to the manual, there's the possibility of the video head being worn. In the beginning the noise wasn't that noticeable.

I take it everywhere. It is light, durable (Ive even dropped it a few times) and totally easy to use. This camera is so fun, not to mention affordable. Be sure to get extra batteries though because they wear out before you know it.
