Sherwood Surround Sound Receiver (RD-6500) (RD-6500) Reviews
I brought this Sherwood 6500 for my bedroom and the sound is outstanding even at low sound settings. I like it so much I've decided to buy another to replace the Kenwood KRV 5560 in my livingroom.
If you want hdmi or any video features this is not your receiver. It downmixes the 5.1 to 2 channel and I have no complaints. I use mine with a 360 outputting 5.1 to the 6500. I have a pair of av123 Rocket 550 MkIIs.
Simple, powerful audio solution. Result is tremendous sound for a $120 receiver. Great quality build. For music, I use my laptop w/ winamp and the ogg-vorbis plug in to my Trends Audio UD-10 usb to coax converter into the 6500.
It has a direct tone feature which allows my sound to go through untouched by the 6500 dac. If you want a damn good sounding audio receiver for next to nothing, this is it.
Loves it. Purchased this for my mom and she says it makes her surround sound even better than with her Kenwood receiver.
Novice - I needed a receiver that would consolidate multiple audio inputs and did not need to consolidate video inputs. This worked out well for me.
I don't have HD radio, but I always imagined that it would be cool. so I don't know what else to say about it. I must admit, this is my first surround sound system. I'd only suggest having HD installed on it. If you don't know anything about surround sound systems, then this works great for you. I can adjust the volume of my speakers individually with this.
