The Siemens Gigaset E450 DECT 6.0 digital cordless phone system was developed with durability and versatility in mind. DECT 6.0 technology provides interference-free communication, brilliant voice quality, and enhanced security. Ideal for families with little kids or for on-site construction offices, the handsets come with great features such as water, dust, and shock resistance. The system can be expanded to include up to six handsets, ensuring everyone in the office has access to a phone or everyone in the house can talk to grandma when she calls home to swap stories about her Norwegian vacation.

The handset comes with a six-line, easy-to-read full-color 128x128 display. The screen relays useful information such as call history, current date and time, and last call length. With the robust display and the easy-to-use keypad, users can even send SMS text messages and send emails via SMS (both carrier dependent). To make texting easy, the handset comes with an easy text entry program--an ideal feature for heavy text users. For added convenience, the system supports up to three separate SMS inboxes (carrier dependent). The handsets come with five pre-loaded ringtones and a bright LED light to notify of incoming calls.

The system also features a room monitoring function so you can easily keep an ear on your children when they should be sound asleep. Siemens E450 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Phone System Reviews

All in all, very happy with this phone. Mine **did** set its own time and date from the phone company network while it was charging up during its initial 10 hour charge/learning cycle. Best of all, it is made in Germany, not China. Still quite acceptable and far, FAR better than the Vtech 6125 handsets were. Kind of quirky, but a very minor matter. There is actually someone there at Siemens, and they go out of their way to help you. It does not update the time in the display when the display is off.

It does not lose time, but it remains exactly 31 seconds behind National Institute of Standards time, which is probably due to my phone company, Embarq, supplying a time setting that is slightly behind NIST time. For what it is worth, the Vtech LS-6125-2 system that is going back to the store claimed about the same battery life as the E450, but the handsets for the 6125 were only good for 24 hours or less, even after several cycles and with low use. After a few cycles it should do well enough to be quite acceptable, but possibly not the full 160 hours standby or 12 hours of talk that Siemens claims. If you enter a number and name in the directory, it will display that name as well, after flashing the caller ID name and number first. However, it is still in its first full charge/discharge/learning cycle, and battery life can increase after a few cycles. Oh, and it DOES show caller ID with name. The only possible negative that I can find is that it may, **may** not have the battery life that Siemens claims. It also has cell-phone-like battery level and signal strength indicators that appear to be quite accurate.

The E450 appears to have at least three times the battery life of the 6125. Features are great. Range from the base station and sound quality, both incoming and outgoing, are superb. When you turn the phone on, like by pressing the "Talk" key, it will quickly flash the time that it was last on. The Gigaset website and the manual seem to strongly imply that it does not, but it does. The keys have accepted every press when I am dialing, and I dial fast.

See below. Customer service was great to me the two times I called them. Much better than Vtech. The **display** does not update as quickly as the phone will let you dial, but it does actually dial the number as quickly as you enter numbers. My E450 is at over 36 hours off of the charger now, on its first cycle, and medium to high use so far, and still showing that it is 2/3 full of charge. That was totally unacceptable. But it is keeping and will display the correct time, it just lags a second or so when you wake it up.

I dislike buying Chinese goods for several reasons, and this phone, and its sisters, the S450 and S455 (and their extra handsets, the S45 and E45) are the only cordless phones I have found that are not made in China. If you take the time to think through what you are reading in the manual, and play with the phone, it does everything you could want and more. Replaced an old Vtech with this phone, after trying a new Vtech LS-6125-2 two handset system (horrible battery life, being returned). I have had none of the problems mentioned in the other reviews of the E450. Further the Siemens phones have a very sophisticated balanced charging system that monitors the battery. Battery life appears acceptable for a DECT 6.0 phone (they are said to have high power requirements).

10 tries to dial out. Other than that, the RANGE of the phone was VERY impressive. Then using the caller ID or phone book, you couldn't "quick dial" those numbers. The phone is overall EXCELLENT. I just wish we would've gotten a good phone to begin with. It took approx. The only problem we had is that we received a deffective phone. We received the phone in great time.

CONS:. This is my opinion:. There is a nice internal intercom system where you call from room to room using the phone. You will press every button and hang up on your friends by accident and you will not like it. I found ONE. 2. So, now I am happy.

It's not the BEST system ever, but it's better than my previous system. I am happy with the phone at this point. But, it is a process, and when I wrote to the company, the informed me that they are aware of the problem and that this feature is not able to be used as of now in the US. I researched this phone extensively, because my Uniden system had started to "break-up" in certain rooms and around other electronics. You sometimes need to press harder to activate. So, I read the reviews, and I felt that the DECT technology was my next step.

The speaker phone is awesome. 3. 1. Okay. PROS:. Would you believe that in the year 2008, Siemens has a major glitch with the CALL WAITING feature on this phone. There is a way (not easily) to find the "flash" portion in the menu, and if you sit down with another person and continually try out the various flash speeds offered, you may find one that works.

1. There's almost like a delay in pressing. I figured it out, and I am very glad I did, because I threw away the original boxes.

4. 2. Buttons don't press terrifically.

Call waiting most likely will not work when you take this phone out of the box. The backlight is always illuminated in the cradle. When you scroll thru the recent calls, all you have to do is press "talk" and the phone adjusts to the area code the person was calling from (so it adds a 1 if necessary or deletes the area code if it is your home code).

The phone is very consistent with not breaking up. 5.

I would not recommend this phone even though I know Siemens products are usually top notch. Finding the last number I dialed for redail is next to impossible. I have been so frustrated with this aspect that I will be throwing this set (I bought the base and 2 handsets) in the trash as soon as I find its replacement. The menu buttons are also NOT intuitive. The phone is crystal clear in its reception, as the only plus. As others have said, this phone has no mute, disconnects when you pick up another handset, but most profoundly - and I cannot stress this enough - THE KEYPAD SKIPS NUMBERS WHEN YOU DIAL. If I have to dial deliberately and slow, so that the keypad picks up all the numbers, I might as well own a rotary phone.

Really a pain. Many of the comments about how dysfunctional it all is, is user error, to say the least. It does do that a little, but as long as you have actually hit the key, it will register as a keystroke, just after a slight delay, less than seconds. I haven't tested the waterproof or shock proof technology, but I'm sure it will happen in time all on its own. Another comment was made about the delay in the keypad after keystrokes.

The belt clips are pretty flimsy and a little confusing to install. Many require only one keystroke. The clarity is amazing, and range seems average or better. One review comment was made was about the lack of caller ID while already on a call well, I have had no trouble with that, it comes through just fine. However, another comment stated that you couldn't use a standard 2mm headset, but you can, I am using one.

The only comment I do agree with is the stupidity of the design in that you have to unplug the headset prior to placing the phone on the charger. I actually read quite a few reviews on this product before I bought it, and almost didn't. The ringtones and wallpapers are fairly lame, (if you care about stuff like that), but I think you actually can download and apply others if you really want to. I find the menus easy to navigate, once you figure out where/what everything is. I do like the fact that you can send your contact list to the other handset from the one you're using, which is great.
