SIIG SoundWave 7.1 PCI - sound card ( IC-710012 ) Reviews
Everything worked well until I attempted to play a DVD using the S/PDIF output. I purchased this card specifically so I could use its coaxial S/PDIF connection to output DVD surround sound to my receiver. Since I don't have an analog surround input in my receiver I'm unable to speak for the quality of the analog surround outputs. My computer would blue screen of death as soon as anything but PCM stereo went out. It appears that a fine piece of hardware was soiled by a poor driver. However, the software interface for setting up and testing the output was very easy to use.
And the only Vista driver offered is not compatible with the 64-bit version. Is it my fault. This is one such piece of hardware. Maybe. But I choose to blame Microsoft for deploying both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista that each require a different driver for identical pieces of hardware. The card arrived quickly, at least.
I can't believe the price on this little jewel. It even sounds great on movies. I am not a gamer or anything, so I don't no. all those technical terms, but this card rocks. fantastic.
It sounds. Some of the gamers might not like.
It beats. anything on my three media center computers.
I really love. the seperation, and the fact that theres two pdif connectors.
for a sound card, but for the price, I really like this card.
it because they are willing to spend over a hundred dollars+.
I received this weeks ago, and the reviews and looks of it look very good and well made. However, I somehow got my old sound working (sort of), and since I plan on a new computer build in a few months, I'll just save the Siig and use it then.
By this low cost, we obtain a superb quality. As good as some much more expensive Superb card of sound.
