They don't sell one as an accessory. Great product. I managed to find one (and this type of cable was hard to find) that is almost 3' long, perfect for my setup, and it works perfectly.
Super product thus far. Called Simpletech and finally was able to speak to a live person (after a phone call and voice message left with no response for days and two unanswered emails.all this after registering warranty online). Meets my needs perfectly for storing images and videos.
I needed something longer, since my CPU tower is stored below the desktop credenza heighth in a cabinet, and I wanted to be able to set the HD on the desk, next to the desktop unit. Still use only the power/data Type A connection and do not have to use the additional second power connect much less a separate power adapter.
Only problem was the cable was not very long (about 18"). Simpletech said they did not provide a longer cable with it, because it had been their experience that a longer cable would not power the device without having to use a separate power adaptor.
All I needed was a month for it to work. I can hear the drive running, but the computer won't recognize the drive at all.
It took me about a month to settle down in the new country and buy a new desktop.
I've tried it on multiple computers and none recognized the drive. I was getting rid of my desktop computer as I was moving to overseas, so naturally I needed a storage device to temporally store my data just till I have purchased a new one.
Believe it or not, as I was about to transfer data to the new computer, the drive failed. I am very disappointed with the product.
I'll have to take it to a data recovery shop to retrieve the data.
Don't go for the cool looking drive, get a good one instead. I bought one of these, used it 3 times and it stopped working. Well it has a warranty right, but fabrik will not return my emails, called and was on hold for 30 mins. Not too cool having a back up drive that fails. Won't connect to my computer anymore which is great because I have some songs on there I backed up, but can't get to now. These guys are lame.
I also have a WD passport and use it constantly and love it, highly recommend. I'm taking this one back and getting another WD. I tried it on several computers, and all ports on those computers. I couldn't get any of them to recognize the device and the device just flashed a red light and beeped when plugged in to any of the USB ports. This item never worked.
The drive is flawless and works well. It's very basic and doesn't really give you a lot of options. The issue I have is with the ArcSoft backup software.
