Sirius Professional Vehicle Install Kit SIR-PVK1

SIRIUS plug-and-play or portable radio installation kit * hard-wired 5-volt and 12-volt power adapters * FM modulation relay and RCA audio cable for sound transfer * low-profile swivel bracket *

Tired of paying the pros big bucks to install your car's audio equipment? Do it yourself with this Sirius professional installation kit, which includes everything you need to install a Sirius plug-and-play or portable satellite radio receiver in your vehicle. Outfitted with an FM direct audio relay, a hard-wired power adapter (dual voltage), an RCA audio cable, a universal mounting bracket, and a host of additional cables and mounting hardware, the kit is a must for satellite radio fans who want the best possible sound while driving. The kit centers around the low-profile metal mounting bracket, which comes with a detachable swivel base. Simply mount the bracket to the dash or console, then slide the car cradle of your Sirius receiver into the slot. The kit works with just about any receiver, including the Sportster, Sportster 3 or 4, Starmate, Starmate 3 or 4, Starmate Replay, Sportster Replay, Sirius One, Stiletto 10 and 100, the S50, Stratus, and InV.

Listeners have two distinct connection options. The first employs the FM direct audio adapter, which plugs into the rear antenna connection of your factory or after-market car stereo. By connecting directly, you'll enjoy a better sound than provided by the receiver's built-in wireless FM transmitter, with no static or interference to get in the way. The second option is to plug your satellite receiver directly into your stereo's auxiliary input, provided it has one. The latter option further improves the sound, as users don't need to rely on the FM airwaves at all to transfer the audio signal.

The hard-wired power adapter, meanwhile, works with both 5-volt and 12-volt vehicle power sources (depending on which Sirius tuner you own). By using this hard-wired connection, you'll leave your cigarette lighter free to charge other devices, such as your cell phone or personal DVD player. The adapter features both two-pin and three-pin connectors, a pair of 16-inch wire leads used to supply power and ground, and a 2 amp fuse and fuse holder that go between the adapter's power wire and your vehicle's accessory wire.

The professional vehicle kit requires a compatible Sirius car docking kit and is backed by a one-year warranty.

Sirius Professional Vehicle Install Kit SIR-PVK1 Reviews

This was a great product. It took me awhile to figure out how to hook up the power but after that it was so easy to hook up. The sound is so much better with no static and no wires hanging around.

This is the same Professional Kit as sold by Sirius but you get free shipping from Amazon (or at least I did). This really made my Sportster 4 look great in my Ford F150 truck. And if you have an AUX-IN on your stereo, it is even better (my Ford has a 6-CD changer, and an old Tape Player so I had to use the FM connection). No more hanging wires, and best of all the FM link doesn't have the static that the old method did.

The reception was not good with the items supplied in the radio car kit that came with my unit. Now I have my FM tuned to a station that makes my Sirius sound great. For less than $30, I got this new pro kit and installed it in a few hours. Also, the charger adapter that comes in the pro kit gives you to power choices for ALL Sirius units, either 5 volt or 12 Volt, there are two different power cords for the different voltages. I have enjoyed my Sirius radio for over a year now but all the extra wires hanging all over my dash was not good. No more wires hanging, great sound and versatility. Now, I have NO wires, hanging from my dash and my unit sounds great due to the in-line antenna adapter.

This really does a nice job of allowing for a clean install. You get more than you need in the kit to cover many options and installs and for that reason it might be a little overpriced but well worth it for a cleaner look. Hooking my Sportster 5 direct to the head unit versus the built in FM wireless provided for much better sound.

But I wonder why there are two kits you have to buy. You can hook up your Stilleto and have wires running all over your dash board or you can buy this kit and the vehicle kit and do a nice clean installation. Why not include it all in a single kit.
