Sniper Elite Reviews
It was funny that they still printed the availability of an option for System Link play in the game manual. I would still buy it if they made a remake or a sequel for the 360. My dad and brother got me hooked on this game one day when I went over to their house. This game (along with Splinter Cell- Chaos Theory) are the reasons I still have my old Xbox. I still think the level of detail is outstanding, especially when you're peering through your binocs. The only downfall that I found was the fact that Namco/Rebellion didn't include System Link play in the software. All in all, I can see why this game still has such a high resell value, despite being released a few years ago.
It makes you plan and think in order to survive. I ended up buying it and have been addicted ever since. It's a little bit funny when your character is crawling around and 4 different weapons are strung across his back. It gets frustrating sometimes, especially during the cathedral level (as some have already mentioned) but the realism is outstanding. This game is one of the best, if not the best, sniper games I have played, and it would have been even better if you didn't have to pay and sign up for Xbox live to play against someone on 2 different screens.
The game is 100% NOT backwards compatible and will not play on the xbox 360. I bought sniper elite off amazon and the games looks like it could be a blast, but not on xbox 360.
I am currently playing through the game again just because it is that enjoyable. This is a superb game, I have played the PC version through once and I really enjoyed the game. This is the most incredible game dynamic I have ever run across and was shocked when I saw a guy do it. This game is as near perfect, for a sniper based game as I have ever seen. This puts other sniper games to shame, with ease. It is not a true first person shooter, while moving you are in third person view, which is really a good thing because it gives you the ability to peak around corners without revealing yourself. This however isn't a big advantage because the enemy snipers will use a mirror to look around the corner to find you.
GREAT GAME. I did the first levels on easy mode then progressively ramped it up and did `Elite' mode the last ¾ of the game for challenge. I played (completed) this on my PC, and am seriously thinking about buying an Xbox version.
Rifle every fallen enemy's clothes for extra `goodies'. This game spoils you on what others don't offermainly choices on how to play (run-n-gun, snipe, silent, grenades & explosives). For stealth, set trip mines, then toss rocks to get guards to investigate and trip the mines (heh, heh).
The slo-mo bullet to the skull gimmick makes me laugh out loud every time, and is especially rewarding when it's a difficult shot to the head of a sniper on a roof that's been slowing `pecking' your health away. I love realistic sniping and this game offers it and more. Read the other reviews, as they are pretty accurate.
If a tank is giving you trouble, shoot it in the gas tank for an explosion, or toss a stick of dynamite, then snipe the dynamite for an explosion.
Could have been better. The camera bucked too much a couple times while I was trying to center in on my target. I wish they'd improve more on the game. The graphics aren't too great and the movement isn't very good either. It's alright though. Like I said great concept. Although the concept is great, the game play isn't as fun as I thought it would be.
