The sound is very nice from this unit. It has been the BEST radio purchase we ever made. I like it's unique shape which is a more stable build than the traditional "brick" design. The first one was a gift for my son that we found at Target. It even comes with a remote control which works well and is an added benefit.
We will be purchasing at least one more of these radios in the near future for our bedroom - we like it that much. This is the second Sony CFD-E100 that we have purchased. So, we chose to purchase another Sony since the first one has performed so well. The cassette access is in the rear of the unit while the CD access is on the front along with the radio display.
We were looking for gift for one of my daughters who has gone through a few different radios in the last several years. Even after 4 years of heavy use, that radio is still going strong.
It's the perfect size, it sounds great, it's easy to use, it's actually fun to use. I love it.
We needed something easy to operate, which didn't take too much room, which had good sound, but wouldn't be so loud it would make us crazy in the living room while he played it in his room (well, truthfully, it can get loud if we allowed it). The cassette side isn't a problemhe looks at this as a treasure chest of sound. The Sony CFD-E100 Portable CE Radio Cassette Recorder was a good fit for our 8 year old son.
I just received my second one and the cd player refused to play on the VERY FIRST CD. I purchased this item and within 6 weeks and without a lot of use, the CD player quit. Buy at your own risk. I sent it back to try again. It had shipped from Dependable Resource and they were FANTASTIC. Again the no disc sign. Obviously, that I cannot do.
First the sound went in and out and then the no disc sign appeared. But what a pain. So it is going back again and this time I am asking for a refund. The size was great for my kitchen and the sound just fine. But I purchased the item to be able to play CD's in my kitchen.
Clear crisp sound. Small Stero big sound. Smooth CD action. Tape insert is in back. Soft Maga base. Radio pulls in distant stations well. I like it.
