You know what I'm talking about if you've been in the electronics dept when everything is a mess - mark down stickers - no prices on some items - so I was happy to see the scanner ring up $45 when I lugged it up to the counter. Radio reception in the store was excellent. It will probably be the last boombox I'll buy. I even hooked it to my bedroom DVD player for better than the "extra" TV sound.
Remote is funtional - so I don't have to get up to shut it down. Louder than my wife or neighbors like. CD's sound better than the Ipod when I dig them out - Ipod hook up was easy. I'm always nervous about reviews - ordering without trying - so after I read all the reviews on this unit, as well as, it's big brother with the bigger sub - I went to the local K-mart and found this on clearance.
Rating should be no stars. What a ripoff. I purchaced my sony boom box from best buy, (should be called worst buy) not amazon. Zero help from Sony. This afternoon it up and quit working. Do not buy this or ANY sony products if you want any customer support. They wanted to charge me to fix or replace the unit AND wanted me to pay shipping.
If those features were incorporated, it would be PERFECT. The boombox is freaking magnificent. The ability to select specific tracks, and 2. The ability to fast-forward within a track. However, there are two features that I wish the CD player had: 1.
. I just wanted to echo the sentiments of other reviewers here who found the styling strange and the sound quality superb. I too deducted a star for the small dark display window, which I've taken to reading using a flashlight. The appearance of this boombox may be intended to appeal to teenagers, but its performance will please music lovers of all ages. I put a Mantovani CD on, cranked the volume to a decent level, and you wouldn't have believed that the appliance producing the sound had a plastic cabinet.
It's heavy, it's big, and it's ugly, but it sounds good.I bought this to replace an old Sony that doesn't do CDs. It looks like something from the Great Beyond, but it does a good job. It may spend its life on my desk, as it is so heavy to lug around. I wanted to carry it out to the front porch so I could listen as I read. I'll keep it.
