I have been extremely pleased with this product. We've had no trouble reading old DVDs that my computer stutters over. For such a small unit, the sound is clear and sufficiently loud to be heard easily amidst moderate levels of ambient noise (e.g. Chevy Suburban hum at 65 mph) The picture is excellent, the mechanical feel of the unit sound, and the swivel screen is very convenient. Our last portable DVD player cost $90 less, but the extra money spent was worth it.
It is certainly the best picture on a portable that I have seen. Battery longevity seems to be accurate, just be aware that duration is given with the backlight turned way down. Other than Sony quality and a well laid out control arangement the real bonus with this model is the screen resolution. This is just about the ideal size for a portable. I had looked at 10 inch versions but they tended to be a bit big.
I was thinking about getting a tablet form dvd player, but then I saw this one. Sony has really built this player to last. The battery life is extremely long, which I really like for long trips. But this player is still worth it.
The other players that I have purchased in the past also came with a case and headphones, sometimes two pair. The picture quality is better than any other player I have seen. It turns into a tablet and the hinge is built so well. The sound quality is great. Even on an airplane with just the speakers on I could hear it clearly. Although at low it is harder to see, if it is bright where you are. I would recomend it to anyone.
Although it is quite heavy for such a small player. It comes with the player, battery, remote, car adapter, and AC adapter. To make the battery last as long as possible its best to have the backlight on min. I have had this player for a couple of months now and am completely satisfied.
Overall this is an exellent quality portable dvd player for under $200. On a late-night flight that I had, it worked great. The LCD setup gives you so much control of how the picture looks. Many of the other "swivel" moniter dvd players have cheaply made hinges and break quickly.
Especially with the battery in. The reason for the 4 star is that it comes with the bare minimum of accessaries. The player itself seems to be constructed very well.
I bought this for a gift for my sister's birthday. It is easy to set up, light to carry and gives a great picture. A wonderful gift to give or own for yourself. She has not had it very long, but is so pleased with it.
I was using my laptop for the purpose, but this is smaller and better. We use this for plane trips with our three year old, and it just works. Simple to use, excellent battery life, bright screen.
