Sony DVP-NC600 5-Disc Carousel Changer

Experience the magic of DVD with Sony's DVP-NC600 DVD Player. You can keep five of your favorite DVDs/CDs ready for play using its 5-disc CD/DVD Carousel Changer. Enjoy Sony's Precision Drive 2 system, Dynamic Tilt Compensation, and Block Noise Reduction. Watch Sony's Digital Video Enhancer at work as it improves crisp contrast and picture detail, and utilize the SmoothScan and SmoothSlow modes for the cleanest playback of DVD in slow motion and scan speeds. It's not just DVD - it's a Sony DVD.

Make favorite movies and music come alive with Sony's five-disc DVP-NC600 DVD/CD changer. The player features high-resolution component-video outputs, compatibility with audio CD-R/CD-RW discs, play exchange (swap four discs while one plays), and block noise reduction (BNR), which minimizes choppy image distortion during scenes where the whole image is changing quickly. SmoothScan and SmoothSlow modes provide the cleanest playback of DVD in slow motion and scan speeds, and DVD/CD Text functionality displays title and artist information on encoded discs.

Top-of-the-line component-video outputs help minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. The back panel offers one output each for S-video, and component-video, and a pair of composite-video/stereo analog audio (left/right RCA) jacks in the event you wish to feed the same signal to two televisions. In any case, a 10-bit video DAC with 27 MHz processing ensures accurate video with smooth gradations of color and contrast.

Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each optical and coaxial) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. The player's 96 kHz, 24-bit linear PCM decoding extracts the full performance of all linear PCM audio in the CD and DVD-Video formats. You can also process two-channel sources for surround sound: Digital Cinema Sound DSP reproduces the precise acoustics of acclaimed Hollywood mastering stages, and the TV Virtual Surround System generates the effect of surround sound speakers, even when you're limited to a TV's stereo speakers.

Instant Replay jumps back 10 seconds and commences play. It's great for those times when you miss a line of movie dialogue or when you just have to see that dance move again. Custom parental control locks playback of up to 50 user-designated discs with a four digit code, even if the discs don't carry and MPAA rating.

Other features include random play, repeat play (including A-B repeat), program play (up to 99 tracks), resume play (picks up where you last stopped--even if power is turned off--up until you open the disc tray), slow motion, scan search, and a screen dimmer to give you that theater-like blackness during video presentations.

What's in the Box
DVD/CD player, a remote control (RMT-D130A), two AA batteries, a five-foot composite-video/stereo analog audio interconnect, a user's manual, Registration Card, and warranty information.

Sony DVP-NC600 5-Disc Carousel Changer Reviews

Now it no longer works at all. Contacted Sony repair shop who basically let me know that it would be just cheaper for me to buy one of their newer DVD players since it will be the same price if I decided to ship this product and repair the Laser. Not sure if the Sony line is as good a product as they used to be from all the Forum postings I've been reading lately. Bought this unit because I have another Sony DVD player that has worked great for 10+ years. This newer unit worked great for about a year, then started to power off during movies. Scans thru all 5 DVD's then says NO DISC error message.

If you need repairs to your Sony DVD Player, DO NOT SEND IT TO Sony Customer Service in Laredo, TX. I bought this DVD Player with a complete surround system in 2001 and it has worked perfectly until last month when I accidentally kicked the tray. Find a reputable dealer in your hometown instead.

When e-mailing them, all I get are pre-written messages thanking me for my time. It caused damage to the tray.

DO NOT DO THIS. The lied to me about fixing it and replaced it with a cheap, used and scratched version. I was told on the phone that I would get a refund, a mailing label to send back the DVD player that they sent me, and I would receive my old player.

I have written the state attorney general in Texas for further action.

I've had this player for four years and haven't had any problems with it. I'm about to upgrade my TV to an HD unit, and, though this DVD player has no HDMI jack, it does have component video jacks that will work. I don't think I'd buy this today, since HD formats are starting to come out, but it's been a good player for general use. How nice is it to have one box for CDs and DVDs.

-Electronics Technician/Sales As far as I am concerned I will not be purchasing or recommending their products for anyone. Called Sony "We have an exchange for that item of 141.00. I purchased this unit the last part of May of 2002. Sincerly.

I called Circuit City (store of purchase) Guess what out of warranty but call Sony. Well I will start with the positive. I didn't pay that much for it newhat the heck.I am very upset with Sony and there quality of workmanship/products. I began getting a no disc error or insert disc message and thought ok nothing big needs the lens cleaned. and until this last week (06-05-06) It has been a VERY good and reliable product. Well I bought a 10.00 Maxell DVD Lense cleaner last night at wal-mart and it would even read that.

The unit has more features than the average person will use and WAS very reliable for anything I used it for.

Although I have yet to contact Sony about possible fixes for the machine, comments by other purchasers have not been encouraging. It is likely my next DVD player will not be a Sony. I bought the unit approximately 18 months ago and it suddenly will not recognize any discs placed in the carousel (spins but reads 'No Disc', whether brand new or previously used, or CDs or DVDs.
