Sony DVP-NC800H/B HDMI/CD Progressive Scan 5-Disc DVD Changer Black Reviews

They are forgetting that they are in the DVD Player business, and this is non-sense. They are like BIG BROTHER. It is sad to see Sony restricting what DVDs I can play in the USA. The DVD is ok but does not allow to play Mexican DVDs, even when they are not copyrighted to begin with. They indicated that there are 6 regions in the world, and if I need to play DVDs from any of them, I need to buy Sony DVD player for each one of them. I called Sony support and they said that all their DVD have region restriction enforced.

As my first upsampling DVD player this unit has an excellent picture and seems to be able to play any DVD we feed it. I'll definitely pay attention to this feature, or lack thereof, in future purchases. Unfortunately the lack of lighted buttons on the front panel or the remote makes operating this unit in the dim light of a viewing room difficult.

I couldn't believe how remarkable the picture was on my HD tv. I am a teacher and I tend to watch movies only during the summer and it has received a lot of play time. I don't usually buy something that hasn't first been tested by Consumer Reports but I needed a new DVD player and I preferred one that allowed more than one disc to be loaded at a time. I have not had any problems watching a movie. Granted I haven't ever seen an HD movie being played on an HD player but this picture appears to be just like HD. I highly recommend this product.

Other than making sure it worked, I have not had much experience. The picture looked very good on a Sharp LCD Hi Def TV. My only complaint is that it is very slow loading and changing discs. I bought this unit for someone else and helped them set it up. Other than that, it seems like a good buy.
