Sony ICFC705 AM/FM Clock Radio (White) Reviews
Audio quality is very good for a clock radio. Pushbutton switch controls need a little bit more tactile feedback - I almost have to look at the buttons on the top of the unit to see where to put my finger. Alarm could be a bit louder. Good FM reception.
Otherwise, it is a very satisfactory clock. The numbers on the clock are not large enough or dark enough to be seen easily without eyeglasses if you are visually impaired with glasses.
Dimmest setting of light display still almost too bright at night. Good product. Large numbers, fairly easy to set alarm.
I really like how you can see the time of the active alarms. More area is lit up. Even on the lowest setting I have to turn it away from me a bit when I am sleeping. I guess its because normal alarm clocks illuminate the numbers of the clock and this illuminates the background of the LED area. Much better then the run-of-the-mill device I had been using previously. The only thing I would change about it is that the display is too bright. Overall I like this product. It is a nice compact semi-modern looking alarm clock.
Perhaps there's a way to do it, but I couldn't figure it out. However, I was surprised about two things:. I decided to keep it since it's for my young daughter and she won't be as fussy as I am, but it would have been nice to see these issues noted in the product description. You just have to set the time zone if you're not in EST/EDT. Perhaps it's just me, but I assumed this meant it sets the time from the NIST radio signals. That's not the case.
* The radio's digital tuner doesn't automatically seek to the next strong station like most radios - you have to manually stop at the right frequency. The radio looks nice, is fairly compact, and has a very good display. Instead, the clock comes shipped with the correct time already set and kept current thanks to the built in battery. The radio and speaker are also good for a unit of this size and price. Unlike with a real "auto time set" feature based on NIST signals, you will probably have to adjust this clock manually every spring and fall because the US keeps changing dates on which Daylight Saving Time starts and ends. * The clock's "auto time set" feature is not what I expected.
Once you've preset your favorites, this of course is less bothersome.
