Sony IT-B3 Corded Phone with Speed Dial (White)
The IT-B3 features 10 Number Speed Dialing, which provides simple two-step dialing of the business and personal numbers you call frequently. Last Number Redial redials the last number called at a single touch. Memory Pause places a momentary pause in the memory dialing sequence to allow time for accessing an outside line or obtaining a second dial tone when using an alternative long distance carrier. Instant Tone Switch allows you to access computerized dialing services (including bank-by-phone or alternative long distance) even if your service is pulse dialing. Adjustable Ring high/low volume, or off helps prevent unwanted interruptions. The IT-B3 is hearing aid compatible. Wall-mountable, no bracket necessary - direct wall-mount.
The Sony IT-B3 corded telephone combines convenience with simplicity, offering easy speed dialing, last number redial, and lightweight portability in a sleek and simple design suitable for nearly any room. Setting up the Sony IT-B3 is as quick as connecting the phone cord to your wall jack and the phone's base unit. The IT-B3 easily stores 10 phone numbers for speed dialing; we successfully completed the four-step speed dial setup after just one fast check of the instruction manual. This corded phone also has programmable memory pause capability (called PBX dialing by Sony), a feature allowing speed dialing when you must call via an outside line, last number redial, and mixed pulse-tone dialing. Ringer volume and pulse-tone switches are on the side of the base unit. We found the IT-B3's handset easily gripable and particularly comfortable because of an ergonomically inspired finger rest just above the mouthpiece. The phone's modest dimensions let it easily fit on a crowded countertop or desk, or on a narrow wall space, making it especially practical for home office, kitchen, or workshop use. Our only complaints where that the speed-dial function is accessed with a button labeled Recall, perhaps easily confused with the Redial button. Also, a receiver volume control would enhance convenience. Sony's dependability and limited one-year warranty make the IT-B3 a sensible choice for everyday phone use. Pros: - Easy, two-step speed dialing of up to 10 numbers
- User-friendly memory programming
- Lightweight and easily portable
- Simple, compact design
- Matches any décor
Cons: - Poorly labeled speed-dial button
- No receiver volume control
The Sony IT-B3 corded phone is a no-frills reliable communication solution when all you want to do is talk. The base unit offers desk or wall mounting, and the corded handset fits comfortably in your hand or on your shoulder. Dialing is done through the base unit, which offers up to 10 programmable speed-dial presets, as well as last number redial. The IT-B3 is hearing aid compatible, has an adjustable ringer volume control, and works with most PBX systems in cases where you need to dial for an outside line. Whether you're looking for a standalone phone, or perhaps a backup phone that doesn't require power during outages, the IT-B3 is a simple and low-cost choice. Sony IT-B3 Corded Phone with Speed Dial (White) Reviews
Am now on my third. Been using them since 1995 one I broke, the other I gave to my girlfriend. I swear by these phones. If all you need is a good vanilla phone, not a communications center, you can't do much better. Take reasonable care with them, they last forever. What a shame Sony stopped making them. Beware of getting these used half of them seem to have been abused in some way, but they're worth the search if you can find one in good condition. Sound quality is great, they are attractive, feel nice in the hand, and don't require a day of instruction manual reading.
But the phone was as good as advertised until the plastic that holds the phone to the wall became brittle and broke off. First, we switched cords because the one provided is a bit short. Now it just hangs there from the wall by the little wire that connects to the jack, begging to be replaced.
It has good sound quality, and seems to avoid the noise and static our other phone (the one we're about to replace) picks up. This is a nice little phone. Although the handset is small, it is comfortable to hold and has a hefty feel which some larger handsets lack.
The ergonomics of hands-free talking is quite comparable to any Dreyfuss traditional hand sets. There is a nice heft at the top/front end like the old ATT merlin units. There's actually a nice positive feel when depressing the buttons - critical when you're trying to call in to that radio station for the big prize. It's got all the standard things at a more than reasonable cost. It has a simple matte finish that doesn't grease or dirty too easily. The quality and material construction is very good. This phone is perfect for any place in the home. The button layout and memory functions are straight forward. They come in a range of colors too - not necessarily here online, but I've seen everything from business black/grey to camo green.
