The MDR-W08L headphones fit inside the ear for jostle-free listening. Created for active listeners, these headphones are better held in place with the wide, over-the-head headband. They are extremely lightweight (.5 ounces) and will provide hours of comfortable listening. Sony uses 13.5 mm driver units in these headphones. While lightweight and small enough to fit inside the ear, they also deliver a good bass sound and wide frequency range (down to 20 Hz.) Neodymium magnets give the headphones maximum energy at a minimal size and weight. The open-air design allows for ambient noise to enter the ear, a safe feature for exercisers as you will hear car horns, passing bikers and dog barks. They are not bothersome in your ear the way ear buds can be. They stay in your ear when active. I highly recommend.
The buds on these are small enough that they are comfortable for hours. No bells and whistles, but they fit well, and unlike the Dynex pair I was using before they have a good shape - they stay in place while I'm running. I love these headphones. They are light and good quality and a great price. I have had several pairs before. I have small ears and I can't wear just any in-ear headphones. Be prepared - they eventually will break, or the wires get loose and you lose sound in one ear, but at this price, who cares. Mine typically last about a year, and I buy several pairs at a time so I know I have a back up pair around.
When they fail, it's in the cord, usually near the plug. I've had 4 pairs of these headphones. I love the fit, sound and weight. Nevertheless their lifespan is long, and I think their value is twice the price.
They stay firmly on the head, and are open-air so you can hear traffic noises for safety. These phones are a great choice for runners. They are cheap enough so I keep pairs in the Gym locker, car, and at home. Sound quality is good, but bass level is average.
They even have a decent sound to boot. A few other reviewers were helpful in that they used these headphones exclusively for running which is what I was most interested in. I found these headphones to be very lightweight, much more comfortable than ear buds and most importantly they were stable and stayed put even at speeds up to 10mph. Ear buds fall out of my ears.
