Sony MPF920-Z/CU1 Internal 3.5" Floppy Drive Reviews
It will cost me a fortune to get it installed, so I won't use it. I expected an external drive and it is an internal drive.
Various colored face plates and Sony quality [plus price] made this an attractive add on drive. Go bum a couple from a PC repair shop or take one from the CD or HD drive, with just one screw "things" still arn't going anywhere Installed easily with exsisting extra power supply plug and on the ribbon cable as a "slave" removeable drive with the CD as prime. If it doesn't have the color face plate you want, paint it. Screws.
I highly recommend Sony over other manufacturers for reliability and quality. As with all Sony computer peripheral products I have used in the past, this item has met the same high standards and functionality.
The complete discription of the floppy drive given made me confident that it was the correct unit for me. It took me no more than five minutes to install and check the unit out. The price was right and I received the unit right on time. The Floppy Disk was just perfect. I had no problems at all installing it and it worked perfect on the very first try.
But, most screws come in small plastic packages and there is no way of knowing if the screw will fit or not, unless you rip the package and gently try a few. I have damaged a few installation holes on CD drives or disk drives because of incorrect screw sizes. Another reviewer pointed out that there is no cable in the box. What is also missing (in my case at least) is SCREWS. You might say you can walk over to a computer store and buy screws. So there may be revised review from me later. I have not used the floppy drive yet.
