Sony RM-AX1400 Eight-Device Home Theater Remote Control Reviews
It can control alomost everything. The only down sie is it take a little bit of time to set every thing up, but well worth the time. It even can control my Sirius Radio. This is a great remote. Easy setup when you have the remotes and use the computer. The express feature is really nice.
1) The XPress function ALWAYS fails to control (on,off, input selection, etc) one or more of the multiple components I programmed it to control in the "macro" or sequence of actions you program using the software. And yes, I did use BRAND NEW alkaline batteries. 3) The GUIDE and MENU buttons, which I use a lot when using my cable box, are relatively small and hard to press. It seems to be not so powerful when sending signals. I have 3 concerns:. This RC looks nice and does most of the job it's supposed to do. Bottom line: I won't return it, but I wouldn't order another one. 2) I ALWAYS need to point the RC almost perfectly to the TV or Receiver InfraRed.
For some reason I can't get into the down loaded programing file anyway. It says something about I'm not authorized to open the file because of some administrative reason. For the price, this remotes got to be the bargain of bargains, except I kind of cheated a little. Otherwise I'm very happy with it. I'll have to get my son to help me figure that one out. I'm only using it for sony products so I don't have to hassle with programing it. It's a good thing I don' need to program it anyway.
MattBatt I sneaked around this problem by telling the software I had six inputs so now it thinks my inputs are 1.Cable 2.DVD 3.empty 4.empty 5.MYTHTV 6.empty this works because it justs keeps hitting the input button. I ran into a problem that my Amplifier switches video between my dvd player and my mythtv but the sony sofware couldn't understand that they were on the same tv input so I had to fool it. You have to install the software on the cd because it installs the driver for the remote you can't get it from sony's site. I have 3 inputs cable video 1 and video 2. I love how cheap this remote is. Video 2 is the front pannel and isn't used. I bought one for myself and for my not so tech savy parents and WHEN you take the time to set it up it works great.
Use the advanced mode they shouldn't have bothered with the simple mode. It's a stupid hack but it works. Some notes. You can only get the updated software (sony being stupid again). It is Great. So this is a good product in spite of Sony's normal ham-fisted proprietary-ness.
This remote is the best, i use it for all my home theater components, i recommend this to anyone, it is very simple and easy to use.
