Slim down your home theater cabinet with the Sony SLV-D370P DVD/VCR combo player, which features component video ouput for vividly colorful progressive scan video. It plays just about any video disc format out there, from DVD-Video to DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW. The player also handles audio CD, VCD/SVCD, and CD-R/RW discs filled with MP3 music or JPEG image files. The front A/V inputs add convenience when you simply want to quickly view those newly recorded videos from your camcorder. Its full-featured, hi-fi stereo VCR allows you to record your favorite shows while watching a DVD. Auto clock and channel set-up makes recording of your favorite TV shows easy--just pop in a VHS tape and press record. Other VCR features include 8-event timer recording, two record settings (SP/EP), quasi S-VHS playback, four 19-micron video heads (for optimized EP recording), and flash rewind. Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive technology uses a 12-bit video DAC (digital-to-analog converter) with high-bandwidth, 108 MHz processing to detect image changes at the pixel level, rather than at the level of whole scan lines. That makes this player's picture more faithful to the source--whether film or video--because it uses separate, optimized algorithms to handle different pixel behaviors. Separate algorithms are also used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts. The Precision Drive 3 feature provides a mechanism for reading DVDs that are in less than perfect condition, eliminating errors in playback due to imperfect, scratched, or warped discs. The SLV-D370P offers a digital optical audio ouput, enabling Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound capability. Other connection options include: - Component video (YPbPr; 480i/480p): 1 Out
- Composite AV (RCA): 2 Out; 2 In (1 front, 1 rear)
- S-Video: 1 In
- RF: 2
You'll get great picture reproduction from DVDs using the three-jack component video (Y/Pb/Pr) output, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. Component video output is available only for DVD playback. Sony SLV-D370P DVD/VCR Progressive Scan Combo Player Reviews
I didn't want to believe that it would happen to me. After I purchased the product for what was too much money, I read a review which stated that his machine broke a few days after the manufacturer warranty expired, which is 10 days after it arrives to your home. I wasted money on this product. The dvd player functions fine. Several days after the manufacturer warranty for sending it back free of charge expired, the vcr destroyed 2 of my favorite VHS tapes, one of which was the classic Labyrinth. I had to purchase another dual deck. This is not the case with this one.
The vcr portion functioned normally it seemed, minus some tracking issues. I am not happy. I use my vcr alot because I record shows, when I am not home. I heard good things about refurbished Sony products. You can't get your money back unless it happens within the time frame before 10 days.
I bought a combo VCR/DVD player. No problems. was the supplier. Alectrics, Inc. I would definitely buy from this vendor again. It works great. The product and service was "As Advertised". Delivery was prompt.
-Excellent machine but did not last. (My last SONY from 2000 lasted till beginning of 2006). -VHS has super fast rewind and playback. If used, DON'T BUY IT SINCE THEY ARE SELLING PROBABLY BECAUSE THE DVD PLAYER IS GOING. The VHS side could last for 100 years. It'll last a long time. When the DVD player goes, it starts to say, "No disc" a lot then stops entirely. Not worth the $150 I paid for it.
Cons:. -DVD player is not meant to play a lot of DVDs. Pros:.
We have a Sony DVD player on another TV set. I find the remote to be a pain to use. What I find most annoying is how slow it is. Our old Sony VCR died from old age. This unit is not as good as either of the stand-alone units. I constantly hit the wrong buttons.
We have a sophisticated HDD/DVD-recorder Tivo-like device which plays DVDs, its slow to boot, and. I'm not talking rewind etc., I'm just talking how long it takes to boot up. I wish I had bought some other VHS/DVD unit. It takes 20 seconds to start up. too complicated for everyone else in my family to use as a DVD player. I needed a minimal unit to play old VHS and DVDs.
I am waiting to hear from the seller as to whether I can return this player. I read only the first few reviews and they were all great and now that I have the unit, the VCR plays only audiono videothe DVD plays fine.
