Incredible sound and incredible price, very good option if you are looking for an affordable stereo system
My wife and I love watching Blu-rays with my Playstation 3 80GB and listening to the amazing sound through ALL of my Sony speakers. I ordered the SSF-5000 pair about a month ago and these speakers are amazing. I'm sure there are audiophile-grade speakers out there with better sound but you'll have to pay an arm and a leg to get any better than these. My living room looks great with the matching design of all of these speakers. I've got the Sony STR-DG710 6.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver, Sony SA-W2500 Performance Line 100 Watt Subwoofer, Sony SS-CR3000 Center and Rear Channel Speaker Package, and the Sony SSF-5000 pair. Without the sub the bass is still powerful. This package is a must-have. The mids are loud and the highs are very clear.
It doesn't shake the walls or anything but, instead, packs a solid, bass punch. I use these mostly for music and as front speakers for my surround sound. When I was testing these out I turned off my sub so that I can really hear them. I wouldn't mind having the Sony SSF-6000 Floor Standing 4-way Speaker Pair, but with my powered sub the extra bass from the SSF-6000 wasn't necessary.
The bass isn't over powering, but not underpowered either. If you are using these for a home theatre system I would invest in a 100W subwoofer as well (but not necessary). Upon hookup that idea was gone. I have them hooked up to a Sony 200w receiver and everything is well and sounds fantastic. I bought these speakers and had the idea of disappointment in the back of my mind. These are definitely a great buy.
Did I mention the incredible value. These speakers put out the sound and are especially good as part of an entire surround system with a subwoofer. I like good-quality sound, but I'm by no means a speaker expert. Looks great with my all-black entertainment setup. Shipping service through Amazon affiliate Vanns was fast. If you can beat the sheer value of these speakers ($129 including shipping), I will be amazed.
They are truly full range speakers producing excellent treble, mid-range and bass (bass is excellent, but I would still add a sub to really rock the room). The black finish matches everything else I have for my entertainment center (including the Yamaha sub). I have a Yamaha Sub Woofer as well.
These are excellent speakers. I use it for my HDTV entertainment system as my front speakers. My impressions are that these are the best speakers on the market for anything under $ 300; at least the ones that I've listened to.
I'm using 14 gauge wiring instead of the 20 it comes with because frankly, it can handle it. It produces a rich full sound even when cranked up enough to shake the room (neighborhood). I purchased these speakers from Vanns (an Amazon partner) a couple of months ago for the unbelievable price of $ 99.00.yes the price has gone up, probably for a reason.
Be aware that these are pretty large speakers (over 3' high) so they are true floor speakers, you won't be able to put them on a shelf. We're very happy with our purchase.
