I was a little skeptic because I knew I was purchasing a used product, but when I received it, and plug it to my Dell 9 Mini to download software with a CD it worked great. I was very impressed.
Tried it on my other laptop and got an error message that dive was defective(maybe damaged in shipment). PS- So dont use this as a review of this product. Got in touch with Targus and they were going to repair it, but I had already contacted Amazon about retuning it. Amazon was Great, took it back and credited my account. I can't realy review this drive. The one i got did not work with the Note Book I bought.
You'll be happy you did. The tray is better quality than my internal DVD drive. I had read one of the other reviews on Amazon (a one star review) that said the tray was flimsy. They even admit that it has nothing to do with my hardware. The tray on my internal drive is flimsy too so I figured how bad could it be.
I plugged it into the usb port and it was ready for use. By the way, I'm still working with Microsoft on fixing my problem. I spent hours online with an "expert" from Microsoft trying to fix the problem. After downloading Windows SP3, my dvd-rom drive no longer worked. To my surprise, this product is well made and feels very solid.
Don't even hesitate to buy this product. My time is worth more so I splurged and purchased the Targus DVD/CD-ROM drive.
easy even for a non-geek. plug and play. stays cool. Highly rec this for mini-laps used it several times. quiet.
