i purchased this for a friend so i can't really comment on it - but my friend loves this song
I really like this song. Builds up very cute and playful and I like the bridge :) Go Jordin :)
While her vocals are still good, it is nearly impossible to get past the bad writing. What about the day when a real tattoo removal product becomes widely available. I mean really, I know that the love song genre is depleted of all originality, but do you really have to compare your lover to a tattoo. Her vocals were good, and then by the bridge, I was totally into the song. When I first heard this song, I was like, Wow. Not only was Blake Lewis's debut flat-out amazing and underrated, but due to the meat grinder that is radio, this song quickly wore like a pair of pants being dragged down a gravel road. And just for a second, I thought she was better than Blake Lewis. Today, this song blends right into the radio wasteland.
Overall, if you have been in a cave for the past six months, consider buying this song. But just remember, when you head back for the cave, this song won't be coming with you. Well, those thoughts quickly passed. Then this song will become more laughable than it already is.
First. Come on. 2.25 stars. Not original and we had ENOUGH of that song.
Altogether, I just don't appreciate either of them ripping the Irreplaceable beat off though. I will never forget you/You're in everything I do/. blah, blah, blah, blah, Jordin. Just like a tattoo/I'll always have you. Second. At least Chris Brown, even though it's a similar beat, has something going for his song, With You (better lyrics, nice video). The lyrics are trite and super-elementary and nothing (I mean NOTHING) besides the vocal work stands out.
And I say that SO loosely. That's what this song TOTALLY rides on. I know it can be hard being original these days in the studio because it seems like everyone has nearly tried everything BUT (and that's a B I G but) copying a song's beat that has previously been played into the ground is the opposite of what you want to do.
(Later). I mean I can get into certain songs that are all pop and little substance, but this one grates on my nerves. This song wasn't great the first time I heard it and it's still sugar-coated fluff.
We heard it ENOUGH in 2006/2007. Start writing your own songs and maybe you'll get some attention. Copying Irreplaceable's beat almost completely was a terrible thing to do.
End note: Beautiful voice but get a new producer who isn't afraid to try something new and different.
It's memorable enough that one can hum along with the tune. It's a happy ballad comparing love to a tattoo. Jordin Sparks' "Tattoo" isn't going to be one of those Immortal Musical Masterpieces. priceless. The melody has some interesting riffs,and it invites what Simon Cowell calls "bad karaoke." Oh well. It's just like a tattoo. "Tattoo" unlike a tattoo parlor,is good clean fun. I know,tattoos can be considered incredibly tacky,but having an American Idol's blessing is.
