Intel's BIOS upgrade software requires either Windows, or a floppy drive, neither of which my system had. Worked perfectly for my need: upgrading the BIOS on a Linux-only system. I was able to boot the flash upgrade diskette from this drive with no problems.

It has no power cable so if your "on-the-go" you can still use it, but i had to give it 4 stars because this does cause it to loose battery power slightly faster. This is a good product. i have a Toshiba 5205-S703 laptop. This is a good cheap solution. these models do not come with 3.5inch floppy drives internally.
