Terk XM6 XM Radio Home and Commercial Weatherproof Antenna Reviews
Has anyone actually got it to work. The signal repeater can be found here: Delphi XM Signal Repeater. I have a skyfi2 and boombox. Make sure this is selected to "max" to get the best performance from the repeater.
OK, I can now run several radios off the repeater if I want to (we have two so I bought an extra boombox for the garage), but I have to say that I just don't think that the original antenna is up to the job. Just a word on the repeater; there is a variable signal strength selector at the back (why it does I have no idea). I then bought a signal repeater so I could put the antenna in the best position in the house and not have it connected to the boombox all the time. I live near a wood and the signal with the original home antenna would drop out all the time.
It was immensely frustrating to try to work with it. The performance of the antenna appears to be very good and it is very easy to set up with no apparent need to "tweak" its position, although I was expecting it to be made of more substantial materials (especially at this price) - it is made of plastic, but it seems sturdy enough for the job and as long as it keeps working well that's fine by me. The default setting is to "minimum" which will transfer the signal a few feet only. All together, I have spent in the order of $150 upgrading the "home" kit so that it actually works properly. This antenna has made all the difference.
This was an improvement, but still the signal was variable and would still drop out from time to time. Having now bought this antenna I have it hooked up to the signal repeater and I have a strong three bar (max) signal with no dropping out. Thank goodness for Amazon's discounted pricing - it would have been a few $100's otherwise.
My XM signal was real spotty using the indoor antenna that came with my SKYFI2 home kit. As I listen to my radio a lot, I am very happy. If only all of my purchases were as successful as this one. There were days that I would get 3 bars but more often than not, 2 bars was a good day, and a "usual" day was one bar with the signal annoyingly cutting in and out. I decided to give the Terk XM6 antenna a try. It only took about an hour to mount the antenna on the roof and to run RG6 cable from the antenna down to the basement and then up into the living room. BINGO.3 bars.all the time.every day.every night. This was money well spent.
A complete kit. Easy to adapt to coax cable with provided adapter. Easy Installation. Quick install. Works well with XM radio.
After placing the adapter from the Terk package on one end of the RG6, plug it into the dock. Great xm reception. The antenna and cable which came in the dock package I do not use because the Terk is of much better performance and made for outdoor operation, which is usually required here in San Antonio , and, I needed most of the 50 feet to reach. For use with the Audiovox 2000 tuner and dock 2999h, I used 50 feet of RG6 coax cable with F connectors. This antenna works well, and has a versatile, most useful, mounting bracket. The other end plugs into the Terk antenna.
The antenna comes with an adapter to connect RG-6 to the dock. Highly recommended. The second I connected the receiver I had 100% signal strength, and it has never dropped below that. I installed this antenna on the roof ledge on the southeast corner of my house, then ran RG-6 under the facia, into the house using the existing cable TV hole, to the docking station. My only ciriticism is that this thing is a bit overpriced, but hey-it works. The installation is pretty much invisible, and the signal strength can't be beat. I had either no reception or only 1 bar in my Family room where my XM receiver is located - even though this room was on the south side of the house.
