The Andy Griffith Show - The Complete Third Season
The widowed father of a young boy works as sheriff in the southern town of Mayberry. Genre: Feature Film-Comedy Rating: NR Release Date: 1-MAY-2007 Media Type: DVD
The Andy Griffith Show hit its stride during its third season (1962-63), admirably restored in this five-disc, 32-episode boxed set. Andy Griffith perfects his levelheaded Sheriff Andy Taylor; Don Knotts is unsurpassed as the comically neurotic Barney Fife; and Ron Howard continues his legendary run as earnest Opie. The season opens with the endearing episode "Mr. McBeevee," Opie's friend in the trees who Andy believes to be a figment of his son's imagination. From there, every disc contains renowned classics, such as "Floyd, the Gay Deceiver" starring the dashing Howard McNear; "Andy and Opie, Bachelors" offering some of the season's greatest quips; and "The Darlings Are Coming," that crazy clan of mountain musicians including the overtly flirtatious Charlene. The season is acclaimed for introducing several new, recurring characters into the cast including Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors), "Miss Peggy" (Joanna Moore), and Helen Crump (Aneta Corsaut). Except for two episodes missing closing epilogue scenes (which Paramount discloses), the set contains 13 hours of full-length, uncut, black-and-white magic. Also included is the originally aired "Fishin' Hole" theme music throughout the collection, as well as more than two dozen "Sponsor Spots," vintage commercial advertisements featuring the show's cast. Don't miss the season highlight, "Man In A Hurry," a touching story where Malcolm Tucker delivers the now-famous summation of Mayberry, "Outrageous? a whole town is standing still because two old women's feet fall asleep," precisely the reason why this beloved sitcom remains a timeless treasure. The Andy Griffith Show - The Complete Third Season Reviews
I really enjoy the people, town and just the generally feeling of the show. I LOVE THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW.I have really enjoyed watching these DVDs and I now own the first 3 seasons. It brings back such memories from when I would watch it as a kid. I like the black and white seasons best, they are the ones with Barney and those are my favorite. It's GREAT. Nothing seems to be like it used to be, and this show really takes you back.
Man in a Hurry-This episodes features a man who is stunned by the slow-paced life of Mayberry; this installment has an almost-"Twilight Zone" feel to it. Additionally, Paramount did Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, Opie, and the rest right by this very professional box set. McBeevee-Opie tells tales of an extraordinary friend, but is he fact or fiction. Andy Discovers America-Andy makes history lessons fun after Opie's teacher blames the man for his son's lack of interest in the subject. The Rivals-Opie develops a puppy-love crush on Barney's girlfriend and the Deputy is NOT amused. Furthermore, instead of easily broken compartments, the DVDs each rest in three individual cases (there are five DVDs for 32 episodes).
Barney's First Car-Barney is duped by a seemingly sweet-old-lady in this hilarious episode. Season 3 has some of the most memorabilia "Andy Griffith" episodes, here is a brief rundown of eight favorites.
This not only has a list of titles, but a description of each episode. Mr.
Season 3 of "The Andy Griffith Show" is perhaps the best constructed season of a continually well put together series. Aunt Bee's Medicine Man-A charming salesman cheers a depressed Bee, but how.
Opie and the Spoiled Kid-Opie pushes Andy's parental limits after a spoiled kid preaches entitlement to him. It seems like most of the time when one buys a DVD set the frills are gone; some do not even have a list of the programs included (except in the DVD itself).
Class Reunion-Andy and Barney organize a High School Reunion and Andy reaffirms the decisions he's made.
i love the andy griffith episodes made before 1965, when they went to color or somewhere around that time. I own seasons 1 and 2 and was happy to purchase season 3
The cast is timeless and still make us laugh. This is one of the greatest shows every made. The DVD quailty is outstanding, and I enjoy watching them again and again. It is a great escape from the everyday world we live in now. Don't we all wish we could be a resisident of Mayberry, this is one way to do it. This is one of greatest purchases I have ever made.
Sound Quality: Excellent. Picture Quality: Excellent. See what you have been missing from the TV braodcasts. FULL uncut VERSIONS.
