Known in Nantucket as the crazy woman who lives in the rambling house atop the bluff, Nan doesn?t care what people think. At sixty-five-years old, her husband died twenty years ago, her beauty has faded, and her family has flown. If her neighbors are away, why shouldn?t she skinny dip in their swimming pools and help herself to their flowers? But when she discovers the money she thought would last forever is dwindling and she could lose her beloved house, Nan knows she has to make drastic changes.
So Nan takes out an ad: Rooms to rent for the summer in a beautiful old Nantucket home with water views and direct access to the beach. Slowly, people start moving into the house, filling it with noise, with laughter, and with tears. As the house comes alive again, Nan finds her family expanding. Her son comes home for the summer, and then an unexpected visitor turns all their lives upside-down.

The Beach House Reviews
I read it over a day and a half. The characters are also pretty well developed. Fun quick read.
This is a wonderfully written with surprising twists and turns. I could not put the book down and finished it in 2 days. The only draw back for me that I noted is the use of British terms or phrases being used by the British author for the American characters. I could picture this being a true story.
It would be unlikely that Americans from Nantucket would use British expressions. I definitely would recommend this book. I did not find the writer to be long on uninteresting "filler" writing. A very fun read.
A great book to pick up when you find a little bit of free time here and there. Taking care of my 3 month old son leaves me little time, but when I could escape this was a great book to read.
I found the characters too 1-dimensional and the plot was somewhat predictable. The book was definitely not one of her best.
I loved this book. The book was so richly detailed that you feel like you're right there on Nantucket. I wasn't surprised, as I am a huge Jane Green fan, and this book did not disappoint. Bottom line, if you're looking for a deep, philosophical read, this ain't it, but if you want something fun and engrossing, pick up this book.
