The Darkness Reviews

The gameplay is very reminiscent of Condemned, but without the crime-solving. My expectations were fairly low on this game, even though it was was recommended to me by a friend. Playing through this game is turning out to be a great experience. The Darkness can control him, but it can't. I thoroughly recommend this. The voice acting is top notch. Overall, a very solid game with a lot of well polished features. The story itself is so-so.

If you don't think about it too much, it works fairly well. The mafia-based struggle is the real driving force and plays out well. I say this in a good way, as I don't think there is much more they could have done to improve this aspect. If the on-screen presentation of said acting was better, the atmosphere would have really benefited tons. But, the whole Darkness conflict seems to fall apart the more I think about it. There is a lot to like about this game, and the stuff I do point out is just me being over-critical of it.

Great story, great powers, and some parts are really creepy. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this game really was for such a low price; got it for $10 + SH. Recommending to anyone I know with a 360.

As far as gameplay, design, graphics, etc.all that is fine. This game is a good rental or purchase if you can get it for cheap like I did. The Darkness powers do add a cool element to the game. I'm just not into the plot or storyline. Although I have nothing against this game really I dont see myself playing it throuhg more than once. For the purchase price of $4.98 I couldn't pass it up.

A lot of this seems to fade away when you start gaining abilities like impaling unsuspecting mobsters with your darkness tentacles or picking up a parked car and throwing it at a group of scumbags across the street. Still, something was just lacking from this game. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it and felt it was worth my time. These levels sometimes got really dark and confusing. It was hard to tell where you were supposed to go sometimes and frustrating because you couldn't see who was shooting at you half the time either. I enjoyed using The Darkness' powers. My biggest issues happen in certain levels when you go into an alternate universe and your fighting Nazis. This game was good but I can't take it into the great category.

Buy it if you only have a 360 and you dont get a multi choice. Not a bad game, but looks alot better on the PS3.
